ya u can....the guys normally get them on hand line from the surf. prwan bait will work
just joking....they are a offshore fish. very bloody and oily so they attract sharks from afar.
u will only get them at the tackle shops but they are scarce at the moment.
try a normal makeral or chokka slide as it will do the same trick for u

Sorry been off line...
"Bonnie" is slang for a Bonito or Eastern little Tuna.
If you have any contacts or family in Durban get them to secure some for you at one of the tackle shops and then take them with you to St Lucia.
I find for a Raggie the "Bonnie" does not need to be to fresh.

Will be fishing Durban harbour a few time's before we go to St.Lucia.. Have heard you can catch eastern tuna there out of the harbour..
Then again.. I love to eat Tuna!! But i think i can put some away into freezer if i can manage to catch a few LOL ..

No Bronzies in St Lucia... but you might have a chance at the Black Tip.
I am sure a fresh "bonnie" on slide would get you any of the shark species.
The Set up I would use is a heavy rod and a Saltiga/ Saltist or Trini/ Torium 30 with braid backing and 0.55 mm main line if you are sliding.
Hooks Kendal Round 10 o's , nylon coated steel 150lbs.
That should do the trick.

Thank's for last year's report!! Nice shark!! nice Ray... Tho shark would be my forte!! Listen.. i'm in the Durban area if your interested in hooking up for some fishing anyway?? We leave in 3 week's for South Africa.. And dont return for home untill 31 st december! So a nice 6 week holiday.
