"Another" Winter expedition

So the time came around for a mid week get-away. Couple of mates phoned me yesterday saying they wanted to hit the waters today But hey hummed and aahhed about a choice of destination eventually calling it off.

I had planned to go to the traffic dpt to sort out a PDP and to DEAT to sort out some other liscening. But the weather was so good this morning that By 9 am I had already decided I was keen to hit the waters. SO the big question was whom to go with and who was available.

A quick call to Gerhard and without hestitation he jumped at the idea and off we went to one of our local dams a quick rendevous at my place off to collect my boat and we were on the launch by 12pm. What a day - clear windstill and absolutely stunning.

It did not take us very long to get the boat in the water and whilist we were on the Jetty "uncle Gerrharrd" spotted his first mista Whiska's but we let this one go. I gave Gerhard the quick run down on "How to" and he picked it up very quick. I then said to him this is how it is done and I grabbed the calling rod and before he could blink I had a 5kg whiska's thrashing on the end of the line. From here I picked up the spinning rod and caught one straight away and this was enough to "wet" the appetite.

Not long and Gerhard was into one himself and so the fun and games began. He bettered his PB with his first fish - what more could a guy ask for.

From here we patorlled the banks picking up fish here and there and we caught a whole herd - many broke us completely off but hey that was part of the fun. I even managed one on a spinnerbait so that was a blast. We came across a shoal of big ass bass but they were not even enough to tempt us away from catching wipskers.

Smallest for the day 4 kgs biggest 9kgs. I even caught a barbel that was perched behind a big rock sticking out of the water I believe even Gerhard was suitably impressed.

And so the cold front sets in.........

So today whilist you guys had the nose to the grindstone we was out playing with the whipskers.....

Gerhard thanks for the company - what an awesome end to a great day

Soos ek op die Expo gesê het.
