Hi all,

A friend at work suggested this site and I thought, yeah, yet another one where some o's share trivial information as found on chat sites.

But, I was mistaken. I admit to enjoying this site, the chirps among the usefull responses and everyone seems very helpfull and patient with the less experienced members. Fishermen, in my experience,  are mostly solitary species that mind their own business and go about their thing and keeping their knowledge to themselves.

I have hope now and would soon like to hook up [ excuse the pun] with a few of you in the Durban area. Having said that, I have fished from Umhlanga Lighthouse through to Beachwood numerous times and found that only during the Shad runs to ever catch fish - I dont even bother any longer. Saw a few new spots, Nyoni Rocks, Scottburgh and Pennington Rocks which I am sure to give a try. I think I am spoiled coming from Richardsbay; in the days that beach travelling was still allowed, we used to spend every second weekend on the beach hauling in huge Samon, Stumpies, Kingfish, Pompano...the list goes on. The variety of spots between Richardsbay and Mapelane were awesome fishing grounds now lost to us:cry1

My first love is game fishing from a boat closely contested by rock and surf. Will get my surf reels serviced soon and be in contact.

Good to be here, keep up the vibe!
