The day started off well, I managed to find a 4.3kg carp at the first spot of the morning...
we tried for bass and Dean unfortunately lost a decent one at the boat
Things werent easy throughout the day, and we drove around a bit. We came upon hundreds of big carp over deep water near the dam wall. It seems there was a hatch on and the carp were feeding on the rising bugs... I eventually convinced this 5.9kg to take the fly, although he got pinned in the nose I saw him come for it
Much later that afternoon as we were cruising down some mixed mud and plant flats, I saw a mud patch in the water with a tail waving just above it... I placed my leadhead where I thought the head was, gave it 3 seconds and lifted into this feisty 6.1kg model
and that was it!
The Owner won the day with a full bag of good carp
I missed biggest carp of the day by a few hundred grams
oh well, still a great day on Roodekopjes
