So.. curious to know how it will turn out and keeping it down to a bare minimum.. i thought i'd try a old trick. With the cost of modern technology perhaps this will suit a student or someone with a very tight budget. Popped in at the local hardware store to look for other stuff and saw the material to make this R16.15c rod and thought why not.
Bought the material which consisted of a plain pvc waste pipe 40mm x 1m and a socket reducer 40mm x 50mm which would act as security against chaving the rig snoot when retrieving. Started the building process if i can call it that by binding an old reel which was gathering dust and not used coz' of sticky drag and lost fish when still in use to the pipe with electrical tape. Drilled a hole which was first mistake as it was too big and swivel would come right through the hole. This will take abit of adjusting with the rig. By the way any ideas yet as to what it is im building? Pic of the reel taped to pipe.
Now to add a sinker for weight so rig wont tangle. That should give the game away :fishn
Boaters should probably know what im on about. Yip a sabiki rig.
Yip.. and an attempt at a sabiki rod. Pipe would act as storage for all those dangling hooks that always seem to catch more fisherman than fish. Except with my shortened version of 2 hooks the original 8 lost 6 hooks. Also between rod swivel and first hook i had to shorten else swivel would come through enlarged hole. That sorted with some mods i realized only one more hook could fit inside pipe safely with the length between second and third hook shortened for sinker trace. To store sinker i had to tape it to side of pipe. Not sure how effective bite detection would be too. Only thing now to build up the courage to stand somewhere with this frankenstein attempting to catch baitfish whilst dodging all the laughter and whatever else comes with it lol.
Well.. before that happens think im gonna settle for the KF sabiki rod and though 20m times the price think i convinced myself to todays technology.
