a CRAZY idee!!

After talking to a friend, he studies at University of Johannesburg or (RAU)in enviromental studies and a big aspect on fish population, feeding  etc.  It quikly came to my attention that a huge aspect on carp feeding patterns is oxygen

A lot of anglers still believe that when a boat sails over their hooks, the boat oxygenate the water over their swim.  And after thinking about it, great feeding swims can be found near waterplants etc. 

Just for interest sake, who knows of an idee to oxygenate the water in our swim?

I have been thinking along the line of an eroding outer shell on the lead, something that works in a simalar way as a borocca calsium.  I know to some this sound far fethed, but hey, if its a winner, well!

In smaller comp ponds/dams in UK (agh! I hate refering to there, we sa man) they make use of pumps in the middle of the dam. I watched a dvd on pole angling and there was this small fountain in the middle of the dam...OXYGENATING!
and the fish were on all the time.

I do believe the fish are more energetic when the oxygen level is up, and if they swimming around burning energy, they need to refuel. I just have to look at my koi and know that.

Funny thing though, have you ever seen what a carp does when he experiences low oxygen levels? he does the same thing as when you fight a carp tired , he flops over to one side, Think about it, that fish you were fighting and got tired, (how do you feel after exerting yourself? You need oxygen...) If my pond waterfall is off for more than half a day, (bearing in mind its only 3000lt and theres 6x 2-3kg fish)the koi start to list to one side, as though they heavy on one side, and gasp for breath near the surface.

In my experience, Ive noticed better bite rates when the water is active and not stagnent. Like a river flowing into the dam, or under tones, or vegetation, eg. reeds, plants, weed, grass, are present, (they natures own oxygenaters).

I can just imagine the next phase to specimen angling.... "A bubbler pump using the tubing with an airblock strapped to the lead" lol!

But, Gogjop, brilliant idea, now its refinement time... keep dreaming... thinking lol!
