4-Strokes VS 2-Strokes

Hi guys,

I'm in the process of looking for a new boat, and have my eye on a either a Seacat 510 or Supercat 520, both centre consoles.
The majority of them are either powered by 2 x 60hp (2 strokes or 4-strokes)

Obviously the setups with 4-strokes are have a higher price point, but im trying to source some information regarding fuel economy between the two?
Am i really going to save that much more of fuel to validate paying for 4-strokes now?

Looking forward to hearing what you guys think, and also some real-world experience between the two.

Short answer:
yes if you stay at the coast and fish every day

no, if you stay up in gauteng and fish 2 to 3 trips a year.

new motors for my seacat 565 will put me back around R 260k

take the 260 and secure it on a 32 day motice and get interest, lol

in the past we started fishing st lucia, drove like a baboon, flat taps to the grounds.
we would change tanks, 50 lieters close to the spot.

now we drive like men, keeping rpm between 3800 and 4000.
we drive to the same spot, we start fishing, we troll some more, then only do we need to change tanks.

in the beginning we used around 90 to 110 liters of fuel.
now on the same fishing session we use around 60 to 70 liters.

2 strokes are much more basic, easy to service and maintain.
4 stroke have much more parts which are moving and servicing is not always straight forward.

go calculate, what you will save, and take it from there.
