Be very careful who you take the motor to if you want to have it checked. Very few competent people who can still work on these older engines.
I have spent lots of money in the past and in the end found and fixed( a small) problem myself. 3 different boat shops and 8 grand later! They love to charge you but don't know how to trouble shoot!
I agree, I have all the workshop manuals and a fair understanding of engines and how they work, carbs on the other hand I will need to study up on them.
The boat is rated for 60HP max so I agree it should fly.
My misses is giving me a lot of slack regarding the boat, so yes its on gumtree, but the price is more than twice what I paid for it. I doubt I'll even get a call, I'm not in any rush, the add says reluctantly for sale hence the high price
