Late afternoon going into the night is best (FEEDING TIME AT THE ZOO) If on a beach a high tide at about 6 or 7 is good or off a point with the water going out. Thats just my preferance.

Howzit Zeyn, lol......now you gonna get our group in a tizz with this "secret" rendezvous point.  Have not been there yet but when the weather is really bad, then maybe will be adventurous or "suicidal" to try that spot out.

Shucks, attended the social comp on Saturday but surf was on its head.....took early flight  to south pier where a good size Grunter and Kingie was landed.

Hello guys,

Personally I prefer fishing at night, mainly because it becomes very hot these days(damn global warming) and also my g/f complains all the time..... she says I end up like a burnt sausage when its hot!!!

Thats why i lean towards fishing at night.... there's no sun*>>>>*  no g/f(<---complainer).

Tight lines

Jonah...thats a sad reality that fisherman are always soft targets.  Safe parking facilities for our next meet, is a MUST. Furthermore,  the beach ban for 4X4 has not been relaxed, which is extremely dissappointing as there are a few responsible drivers/owners of such vehicles.

Maybe another spot to also consider is Boulders beach in Ballito as there is public parking which can be viewed from the fishing spot.  Also, this place fishes extremely well with all the fabulous in-eds and eds making a special appearances, very very often. Also, this parking facility is well lit at nite as well.

Hi Max

That location has always had good reports with regards to the fishing.....good idea to try it out sonn....maybe a few of our members can hook up and try it out......let me know, I'm keen....

As for the security, we are trying to source something for the safety of our anglers and their vehicles....will keep the members posted as soon as we can get some good news.......

The 4x4 ban might be a good project for sealine.......I have been thinking about it for some time.....I think that the approach to lift the ban has been incorrect, we need to find a solution not demands.......however this has to be well researched first.......I still think that it can be lifted........that is if it is handled with the correct attitude, approach and obviously specified areas.....all we want as anglers is some kind off relief.....

Morning Dinesh, I support your view of a structured, "duck-in-a-row" approach to addressing the contentious issue of beach driving.  Respect for our environment and all species born thereto is tantamount to their continued existence, well after we`ve passed on and we hope to have left a legacy which, if it were sustained, will result in an abundance of growth, both off shore and onshore.

So much for the philosophy lesson.

If you wanna hook-up this weekend, I will be available this Sunday (25/2) early morning, suites me fine...lekker tide as well.

there was a very good investigation done and request put in by the KZNCAU about three years ago into allowing certain areas to be monitored and allowing a certain number of vehicles on the beach at a time. It was done for the whole KZN coast and eacharea that was requested had the study by an independent enviromentalist setting out reasons for pages and pages but still no go. I think that it is still veiwable on ncau.co.za or kzncau.co.za. all 1000 + members put in R50 each to pay fir this in the hope that we would be allowed back on to a few beaches but no go.

Morning Buckled, I truly dont think that they (Govt.) will ever consider lifting the ban.  As long as they have a vested interest (which is ever so common of employees within Govt service) and they can score, then only will regulations be made or flexed to suite their (!) needs, which often includes a large jacket pocket.  A prime example is the mining rights for an Aussie company for the Transkei and the new toll road through beautiful virgin terrain in Transkei as well...all will be lost to mass exploitation and greed by the same "vested interest" employees/ministers.

Dinesh, local haunts may prove favourable i.e: North pier; South pier;Toti....Ansteys....u let me know!

If you guys which to drive on the beach, and ensure your car is safe, why don't you consider the beachwood stretch? Flatties is in an abundance at the moment, and you could just strike it lucky with the odd stumpie, grunter and kingie in this area. Greys also sometimes make a huge apperance.

Just a thought...

Juan P

Mostly fish during the day, but not out of choice, as night fishing in our area is like playing with a loaded gun!:uzi

Same here. I also only fish during the day. Previous criminal activity that had us walking home was the motivator.
