What distance do you get?

Bill Selkirk (Scott) and I went to the local soccer field today to measure the distance we could cast with the tackle we use to cast for yellowtail from the boat.

We tried three different outfits, with my normal tin spinner which weighs about 70 gr and measured the distances with a range finder.

8ft exage spinning, stradic 6000 and 50 lbs braid, over the last 6 months I have landed 188 tail on this outfit  -   best 3 casts  88m  91m  96m

10ft exage spinning, stradic 6000 and 30 lbs braid - best 3 casts 104m  107m  110m

10ft exage coventional, torium 20 and 35 lbs mono - best 3 casts 85m  92m  94m

Scott with the coventional outfit got 95m  101m  105m, he also tried a 160 gr lucas type spinner and got 102m  110m  117m

Seeker1,

Thats a great photo.

What weights are the Exage rods rated for?

I have a 10ft medium spinning and 11ft heavy conventional rod.

I just might have to look into the 8ft Exage. Did not know they have a 8ft version.
