Distance casting

Getting someone that cast the pendulum... and different styles of pendulum... oh yes. there are different styles... seems to be lost cause locally... or does it.
Recently saw good examples of Hatteres cast being done on 15ft rods.
Have been up and down casting field seeking on my own... used carp rods...tried over stiff Century rods..
point ... yes you do not need to cast far to catch fish... have good examples of that also...just peek at my avatar... but have good examples of what the distance can put you in range of.. do not do club scene... so would not know whether South African cast is only method handed down... just know very few people that can do pendulum and to add to that... high swing tradition full pendulum...

Rods in picture are mine...both pendulum rods... have coasters on....just recently got them...one is dedicated ground cast rod but can pendulum with it. Shorter one is dedicated pendulum rod as tip is in fact softer...have picture of Neill McKellow on them... known as PPT rods...Penn Performance Tackle.... very old...90's........ I can do pendulum low and high swing... ironically not good with groundcast.... whether I do it right is different story as I had to teach myself.
Pendulum cast with either multi or grinder. On clip of SA distance championship on internet see SA guys concentrating on low pendulum swing

Ppt rod mostly bends in tip like most Century rods ..manage to compress it a bit there... here another pic trying out rod..spot high sinker in building up to release of the cast

Good form there.
Penn Pendulum PPT dates from early 2000's yes? Did you bring it in yourself?
I'll stick to my early model Tip Tornado; much prefer to the T1200 I had

Have a look for New Squall II 15 DCS as a fishing multiplier. (UK version is the Mag4 I think) - nicer arrangement of the (new) knobby mag position comapared to say the Fathom II 15 DCS

Got for bargain locally..2 rods identical.. groundcast tip thicker and stiffer was 14f3... shortened to 13f3.. now mean beast... gonna serve as all rounder... friend has TT sport... like it ... 15 good reel to cast but I empty it without much effort... wanted casting special but squall was available locally

Squall I is nice, but I am very keen on the II version because it has the easy access side plate - one screw RH plate off (like the old Squidders) brush out, rinse, fish.

Low mount... coasters... must still perfect final punch pull...seems this rod will get me there... very forgiving.. this is Tica rod on heavy tip... tip action just before tug in and final push out

When I started out with this... skip groundcast and jumped straight into 360 degree high swing casts. Have now lower fishing style for beach which is similiar with difference that back swing is started earlier.... looking to venture back to full 360 swing..

Waiting on rod builder to complete remodeling of my PPT pendulum rod....16mm eyes... reelseat and velcro .... transforming ugly to beautiful... will leave Neil Mackellow face on it though... just getting rid of ugly yellow..want to venture again into 360 swing style. Found this old video of flat curve 360 degree style. Screenshot shows what actually happens to rod... not very stiff rod though.

My friend with TT Sport also has 16mm on his rod. Sonik I got from him also 16mm eyes. Struggles with leader knot ....had lot of overruns due to knot smashing into 2and or 3rd eyelet. Not replacing eyes on groundcast as I'm using o.5mm perline on 535mag2 ... beast of setup... shortened groundcast to 13f3 from 14f3... pendulum PPT 14ft ...will have 16mm eyes.... planning to force pendulum using technique and force combined in down swing... casting left handed... I'm right handed...1.72m with bad back... not making use of pure power... which I do not possess of... pendulum action simply exerts added torque required to send sinker flying... I just need to sort out rounding off at end. Have no problem with direction... naturally lands straight on most of times..low or high styles. Pic of shortened groundcast and 535mag2. Make use of makaira blue 14f6 and 14ft and spinfishers to pendulum and fish with

16's are not necessary.
Heavy and they do make the recovery less quick, think about taping a quarter ounce sinker to your rod tip, just because.

Tape up and try (more) smaller 12's or 10's
Don't assume, experiment, try, question old-school norms an rules.
om te meet is omn te weet.....
I've thrown 0.40mm main albrighted to 0.80mm leader through alconite size 7's (single foot) without any issue.
