Will definitely need to be on wheels, looking at walking from Dana Bay to Vleesbaai aprox 20km rekon on pulling about 30 to 40 kg. Maybe attach to a belt with rickshaw handles?

For a 2 day trip just the red wine will be 15 kg,not to mention a10kg fish or 2. Im busy designing one that can take 6 plastic crates which you can slide out. Will send photo once finished

Make one yourself...........

Go to the secondhand shops and look for the older style collapsible golf cart thingy, and adapt it to hold just about anything.

Will apply my superior design abilities and see what I can come up with........just got to go get my old golf cart back from my sister-in-law!

It's funny......the coincidence I mean.

Just last week I saw an old collapsible golf cart lying with the garbage for collection outside a neighbours house, and the idea came to me to convert it for fishing trips!

By the time I came back from dropping kids off at school, the stuff had been cleared......Damn!

Cheers

I found the right wheels they are pneumatic and about 4 inches wide.I know they will work in soft sand because they are on 2 new wheelbarrows I bought which Ive been using in sand.Im thinking thats 1 of the main obstacles out of the way,the other being somehow to clip it to a wide belt or something so that you dont wind up pulling with the 1 hand then the other all the time.It seems that the wheels need to be just aft of centre as well

i'm gonna be using Bmx bicycle wheels, the mag ones.

u know one has to look styling on the sand lol. and its gonna incorporate a couple slots in which to slide ones sand spikes and also about 4 holdes for rods and a gaff.

Howzit Guy's

The concept that BM had with the Vallie Musa cart was excellent. It didn't use wheels at all. What it had was a an Aluminium cage or basket so to say and this had a V shaped sort of wheel arch with a roundedd slot in it.You then slid in a shaft which had small bouy's like the ones you see yaghts use when they are moored. The idea behind this was that the boyancy of these bouys filled with air and also their width made it impossible for it to sink. Also by having air in it it made for easy pushing or pulling on the beach.

I attended a seminar at TMR where Barry and crue demonstarted this and i thought the concept was excellent.I remeber seeing the smaller set up of the wheel structure in his store the basket and cage im sure the guy's can make themselves.

Howzit, guys i'm reading this thread with a bit of a smirk on my face, cos myself and a buddy managed a piece of engineering brilliance with a fishing cart for the long walks at Cape Vidal, we used an old aluminium golf cart as the base, used some old curtain rods to place accross the frame (3), and then attached our cooler box and an open crate at the top, using the curtain rods as the base, then we used bungi cords to hold the cooler and the crate in place... We also welded a kids bicycle tyre to the back end for balance, so it became a 3-wheeler....It worked really well, but it broke down on our trip cos we over loaded it and the slot for the wheels were plastic, so it collapsed, due to the heat and friction...We haven't ressurected it, and now we decided to just pack light for our trips...lol...cos your arms and legs will never fail you....

Saw a guy at Cape Vidal with a cart and I've been looking for one since then.  Could'nt find one for sale so I figured I'd try to build one myself.  Downloaded a couple of pics from the net for design ideas .....
