Just a quick note to all! I have found this site extremely helpfull. Even going back in the archives!
I have two Penn reels namely 555 and 535 GS model that I have had since about 96' these reels have served me extremely well and are used very often. So I noted that the drag washers were worn and needed replacement. After try-ing to source these washers locally was leading me no-where...... So after a search on your site and with numerous posts/pointers, I imported a sheet of Carbonex HT-100 (supplier I found on Sealine Web-site!)and then decided to make a die for the Penn reel drag washers. The 555 main gear was converted to the 6 ear location nodes using a dividing head in a milling machine thus increasing the drag and a bonus is then the drag washers are the same on both reels!
So attached is a jpeg of the die, and a big thanks to all with the helpful postings.
