Hi all,

I am going down to Knysna for December holidays and please need some advise on targeting Kob and Garrick in the estuary.

I have tried to do some research on this topic and the information I am getting differs from website to website.

It seems that live Elf/Shad is generally the best bait for both Garrick and Cob, is this the case in Knysna lagoon as well?

From my research it seems, the best option is a popper with about a meter of leader for Garrick to keep the live bait close to the surface of the water and a longer leader with a small weight for Cob.

It seems that lures and spinners are also a good bet, but I believe live bait is still the best option.

I will really appreciate any tips and advise on bait, tackle etc. Please keep in mind that I will be angling from the banks of the Lagoon..

Looking forward to the feedback...

Hi Oelof,

Kant hengel is moeilik in Knysna meer, veral in Desember.

Hi Sotha,

Ek gaan by Oyster Creek Lodge bly, weet jy dalk waar dit is?

Oelof, Oyster Creek Lodge is in an area called "the Point" in Knysna. Its pretty much on the lagoon and the fishing from the side around there is not too bad, as long as you're prepared to wade onto the banks. Fishing on the lagoon in December is not great due to all the boat traffic. I tend to get up at 4:30 on most mornings and fish until 8:00 cos thats when the boating traffic picks up significantly. The other advantage is that you then also have the day to spend with the family, thus keeping everyone happy.

PM me if you're keep to hook up for a session or 2
