Hi,

Thought this might be of interest to the members - I have an 8 sleeper / 3 bedroom challet situated at the entrance to the Port Edward town which we use as a holiday home and to let out. If you are familiar with the old Gracelands, this is the newly renovated Gracelands and I'm proud to say that ours is equipped with everything a family or group of fishermen could need from every bit of kitchenware including a huge deepfreezer(for the fish and bait) to DSTV. Two bedrooms have a double bed with one an en-suite and the third a double bunk. A private entertainment area with braai facility is also part of the unit.

The challet(no 17) which is a duplex is situated in a fully fenced complex secured by coded automatic gates and is at a dead-end so there is more than adequet parking.

For those not familiar with the area, within a 2 minute drive down the road is the famous Spash Rocks, the lighthouse as well as OK, SPAR, bottle stores and the TackleNet tackle shop. At the entrance of the complex is Reflections Bar & Grill.

If larger groups up to about 14 people need to book in, we can always check with our attached neighbour(who also lets his unit out) for availability. I have attached a few pics to give a slight idea as to what one can expect.

Hi Guys

It might be a good idea to have a Winter Sealine Comp there dependent on the Good rates for Sealine Members..or maybe just a Social.

The fish in my avatar is a Shovelnose Catfish, caught at one of the tributaries of the Amazon River. I have one in my tank which is about half that size.

The pricing for the challet is as follows:
High Peak Season : R1000/night
Peak Season:R850
Out of Season: R500 - R650
Pretty reasonable prices but I'm sure I can work something out for Sealine members.

Even half that size, your tank must be a substantial size and a great feature hey!

Thanks for the pricing. I'm sure we, your fellow members, will take advantage soon!

Cheers

Ash , please advise i.r.o. the following :
  • give me an idea of where Rennies is
  • is it the beach from/on the North bank of the Umntanvuna /Wild Coast Sun river heading in the direction of Port Edward
  • are any fish of any significance caught in the above busy river , and if so , what/when
  • what fish are caught at Rennies
  • is it a rock/sandy beach venue
  • is it safe
  • how far can one drive with a vehicle to/near the spot
  • what type of fish are caught at Rennies
  • when is the best month to catch " inkunzi" salmon/shad( 3-5kg & >;)
  • can you give me a schedule of available booking dates for the chalet

Yes, Rennies is actually the area where you find the first set of rocks if you walk north from the Umtamvuna River
  • are any fish of any significance caught in the above busy river , and if so , what/when
Not sure which fish are significant to you but we have caught good Rock Salmon, Grunter, Snappers, Perch, Shad and even river baracuda.
  • what fish are caught at Rennies
Shad, Kob, Galjoen(black bream), Banded Galjoen, Rockcod as well as the usual shoaling rock fish
  • is it a rock/sandy beach venue
Rock and sand(mostly rock)
  • is it safe
We have fished there for years without an incident - at night I would suggest fishing with a few guys.
  • how far can one drive with a vehicle to/near the spot
If you staying at the Carribean Estates, it's a 500m walk - otherwise you would have to drive to the dead end on 7th Avenue and walk south for about a 1km

  • when is the best month to catch " inkunzi" salmon/shad( 3-5kg & >;)
Shad: 1kg and over at the moment - obviously much bigger during Sept & October       Kob : from now till December
  • can you give me a schedule of available booking dates for the chalet
Not off hand - the lady that does bookings is not around - you could give me dates which you would like and I will check with her and advise if it is available.

Hi guys

Six members of Sealine spent the Weekend at the Chalets....The accomdation was very clean and the facilities were great. It is a few minutes from the sea and shops.

Great fishing and would recommend GraceLANDS chalets .

We would be going back.

Regards

Jace

Hi Jace,

Thanks for the comments! We do try and keep it in the best condition despite some of the inconsiderate guests that abuse the fascilities.

I must apologise for not being able to give you the information which i promised - been having problems all week with the ADSL and I don't have your number.

What did you guys catch?
