Yellowtail head throw bait

Hi guys I am looking for a pic of a yellowtail head throw bait.

I presume you trim off the excess, put a dingle dangle through the mouth and a circle through the lips and DD loop.

Bend the bottom of the DD and clip sinker?

agree?

Pictures?

I'll try remember to take a pic this weekend.
Try keep it as aerodynamic as possible (easier said then done)
Trim the bait off at angles instead of just square at the bottom. Depending on the size of the head you can add a chop to either side.

I also throw my heads like that now
But before the whole dingle dangle thing became popular I used to take a head and cut it at a very steep angle, from just under the lips to behind the head where the body starts(on a small yellowtail obviosly) if that makes any sense, then I used to use two J hooks, top one in the lips, botom one at the botom of the bait with a toothpick(where I clip my sinker) I supose the same way as you would generally throw a whole mackie or something. Its a bit longer bait but it makes a nice casting bait. But I have caught some fish on both ways of doing it and its pretty much even. I also find that some yellowtails are longer in shape (the farmed ones we get if I'm correct) and other ones are shorter and wider/fatter. I like to use the longer ones for casting because you can make the bait a bit more aerodinamic, and the fatter ones for sliding.

Thanks guys, I almost forgot about this thread.

I have been working hard on my yellowtail head throw baits, and had some success (finally) last week. I trim the head a lot... like LANK! DD through the mouth with a 12/0 Circle keeping it in place, and a cable tie. Sinker underneath on DD....

With this setup you need to wade a bit make no mistake but i am feeling more confident.

OOhh I got a nice 80 kg bronzie on it.... The slide on my other rod was not touched. Juts shows when sliding on the beach you can never be 100% sure your bait is all the way out in the hole you want and not on the bank before.

Throw baits are a winner!

Why would you put a DD though the head?

Why not just a circle hook through the lips, J in the back and throw it like that.

Will it tear out?

Single circle works lekka with a dangle. I just use 1.6mm fencing wire. Bend closed loop on one end then insert str end through the lips and head to come out the middle of the cut end pull the closed loop just behind lips and push circle through lips @ loop secure with cabletie. Then where the wire comes out the cut end of the head bend a hook to clip and away u go. Simple and cheap.

Wish you had a Pic of This . I am inclined to be Wanting to Throw bait this wekend , instead of sliding . Depends On where We're goin , but i reckon Mike smith already Knows whewre I'm goin .....

So the head don't Face down it Face upwards , correct ?

the Yt We get Are so big I'd have to Possible Maybe Even chop the kop in Half . Alternatively - I will buy some heads , and see if i Can find a way of getting through the head like  this , without chopping My right hand fingers off as We go along .....
