Ja bru. Unfortunately, that seems to be the case with most of the kief places we went as kids. I used to love the Museum, Oceanarium, Tropical House and Snake park. Nothing is like it used to be. Sad...

There used to be kiddies museum and a playpark on the field where they built Brookes Pavilion. I don't know if anyone will remember that place. It was very cool.

The Willows is still an option.

Would rather do Beachview than Willows.

Sad how everything we enjoyed as kids is now gone, try to do similar things with my kids but these days its not always possible.

Camped there at the end of January, was nice and quiet at the time.

Campsites were clean and rubbish collected daily. The ablutions were also very clean, didn't get any complaints from the women who were with.

Just a pity the fish weren't around at the time.

Van Staadens is looking good bud. Myself and Devan go there often hey. But ja as Vades says. The fishies never play the game when we are there. Beach View eish, no thanks. Ok for day trips and that's about it.

I was there on Saturday. Water was clean and i speared a nice Spotted Grunter near the mouth! Saw a couple of nice fish including a school of 10-15 Juvenile Leervis probably 50cm or so.
Grunter was around 52cm in length.
Wish i had a Go pro Camera....

You spear the fish in the river?

Going this weekend with the kids, would love one of them to catch a good grunter.

Hi , yes it was in the mouth, but i have since learnt that one is not supposed to spearfish in lagoons! You can fish there though, and i saw a couple of decent Grunter and also plenty decent size Leervis.... I would recommend throwing a line in early morning or evening after the day visitors are gone for the day (they must be out at 6pm).

Take some lures with you, i think that would work well there for the leervis. Pump some prawns for the Grunter and try and fish on the other side of the lagoon (sand dune side). I found that is where the fish were mainly. Good luck and i hope you and the kids have fun!
