I've done one of those small styrofoam boxes. Im just struggling to get the lid to fit tighter, but the rest is nice and hard, even got a small bait cutting board ontop.

i used the roof sealer with the fibres in it already... did 3 coats of the stuff. I then did 2 coats of high gloss enamel, the kind u use in bathrooms.

The end result is a bit "ruff", but it seems quite strong. I havent done the inside, it's still just clean styrofoam. didnt want to start until i had the lid sorted. The problem is u change the space inside if u just ad stuff inside the lid. (the lid is hollow that adds extra space).

I'll take a pic tonight and put it on tomorrow morning.

P.S. it's not a masterpiece, i failed art at school.

Marthin ,

Thanks for that ..ok you must do the inside ..
ONLY WITH PAINT !!! Only water proof paint initially
Once you paint inside & edges etc , the lid will fit better . this is a trial & error process ...

Bru..we all do what we can nothing to be ashamed about

Hi guys, did a similar thing. used 3 coats PVA water paint. sealed nicely. BUT then i used teh roof membrane and selaer paint. actually costed a lot but didint end well. now looks like a thick towel around the styrafoam box.

What paint with the fibre did you use. NAME. and how much and where can it be bought. What quantity as well.

DId the surface get hard, and can you now apply body filler and paper smooth. and spray

Blade ..from my experience ... it must get hard ..
I will be using normal Bandages .Now you don't want to make it to heavy ,i wud think that body filler may just do that .
My 2c's worth ...

After the roofsealer with the fibre...will get the name tomorrow... i think resin with hardener is the way to go.

I will test out the options on a piece of foam.

Kumz it didnt get very hard. actually its like a towel finish. I think ill the resin and matting, papared down fine and a light coat of body filler.

Does any one know of how much will the sheets of matting cost, resin cost ??

Thanks

Hi Blade ...

Resin & mat is Cheap you can get it from Tiger in Vlm ...or most spares Shops ...
Personally i wud say that resin alone initially just to get a hardish finish ..

u would still dent it if you pushed down with all your weight with an object or ur thumb, or if u mis-queed a shot with a tjokka hammer, but it's not going to break under normal conditions... i also added 2 pieces of the outside of an electrical cord in the holes for the line.... the box always tears here.
