when i go into the tackle shop i see all these cool colours of gut. im thinking of getting me a roll but is it advisable to use this line? at the moment i have the high abbrasion double X line on and its the dull green line and its really difficult sometimes to see where the line is laying. so im looking to get a red colour or a neon colour...

what are your guys takes on the coloured line.... any advice highly appreciated :D

Hi there,

For me it is a matter on personal preference, there are a lot of factors that could influence your decision (such as night fishing etc). Personally I have fishing with pretty much every colour there is and have settled for yellow, for no other reason that it is easier to see at night (along with the other bright colours). Much of a muchness between the colours, but a definite benefit over clear line in terms of visibility.

Or you could always go bright pink and make a statement :P

bwahahahahahaaaaa... riiiiiiite, pink u say :P... well one of the reasons why i want to get the coloured line is so i can see where it is and that other anglers can clearly see where im laying....

okay next question, i have a Daiwa sl50shk which diameter line would be perfect for it? im targeting edibles but also dont want to be run off when im picked up by a shark ::H....

best option would be is to go for the 0.43mm daiwa tournament monofilament.

but be sure to use a clear leader line so as to not blind the fish::H

i use the Red Kingfisher double abrasion,as it works for me,ablind person:D,then i use a clear leader  so the fish dont stop dead when they see the red line.,and a fluorocarbon on the terminal tackle for edibles

i got your number boet...remeber i still called you that week before the easter weekend... what happened that morning was me and my dad went where you said by sunrise circle, we pomped 3 prawn and the inspectors show up... and they like sorry om te disturb maar kan ones die permits sien and me and my dad is like sure...

whip out the permits and they tell us... meneer waar is die slippy wat met die permit kom? told them mine broke off and its at home, so they tell us that page you fill in is useless without the receipt and they tell us the receiept must always be legible...

and im like are you freeking seriaas????  coz the paper used to print the slip on is that roll fax paper and that fades after a while... now how the flip to you keep that paper legible.... eish, needless to say we were on the peak of low water and they said we should go fetch the slips and we had to put the 3 prawn back else they gonna take the pump and fine us....

heres another tip for u dubsteeker , go to a nursery buy the little 5L bottles that has the spray attachment to it  (cheap ones are likr R110-120 ) its a small version of the bottles the pest control guys use. buy a good weed killer (R70) , 50ml bottle will do 10L  of water , just spray the paving  during the evening and mustnt be no rain expected , and leave if for 3 days , the weeds will die on its own , reapply again in 2mths , no breaking u back anymore with a screwdriver hehe.

next tip is going to cost u a fresh snoek!!!!

heheheheheeee... the guy that cleaned the place the last time brought me some weed killer... and i bought me a little canister with a capacity of 1 litre.. you just gooi in liquid and there is so a long rod in the middle that u pull and push so up and down to pressurise the bottle, the you just press the button and it sprays continuisly till the pressure is out then you just pomp it again. the nossel is adjustable so you can have a fine mist or a continous line coming out... bought it at checkers for R30....

gonna go spray the weeds tonight and see what they look like on saturday :D heheheheheheeeee

razeen the problem with petrol and deisel is that they stain the paving , and the effects are not as long lasting as agood week killer.

I use Roundup that kills everything, no discrimmination.

I think you should kill or the weeds do a proper job and then seal the paving with a clear coat of i don't know the name but its probably like laquer.

Then the weed shouldn't  grow and u can go fish more often::H::H
