Hi guys

Just a bought a second hand boat last week which requires some work.

The deck is still ok to a certain extent but I would like to have it redone.

Anyone know of any companies or private individual who can help with this cost effectively in the Durban area ?

Your help is appreciated.

It is a small boat (4m and holds 4), budget is quite tight as well.

What do you guys think it may cost ?

Thanks

not easy to say.
you would need to see what the condition is of the deck when opened.
and when that is open, you will see, what the bouency situation is.

I will take some pics this evening and post.

Thanks guys.

The deck is fine in most places however it has about 3 soft spots.

Some of the hatches / hinges are a little rotten / soft.

When I purchased the boat, the owner provided the ffg, certificate of registration for 1nm out to see which expired in 2011 and needs be renewed.

No bouyancy cert, please advise where in durban I can have the boat inspected, registered and bouyancy issued once I have completed refurbishing.

to get the COF in 2011 (certificate of registration) there would have to had been a buoyancy cert to get COF, so there must be a certificate. illegal to sell a boat without one unless you notify the seller?

what hull is it, suggest you open a section where the hull is soft and see if you have foam or bottles.

I will check the documentation for bouyency cert and notify the seller otherwise. I did not get to take some photos as the weather here was terrible and is again today. The hull is made from fibreglass and the deck from wood. I opened an inspection hatch, it is filled all the way to the top with bottles. What does this mean ? Any other what the flotation percentage is ?

need to check what type bottles you have that the conform to samsa requirements, then just need the paperwork / certificate and if the deck is good and you have the safety gear in place etc then you should be good to go and get a survey.
