Trace wire

I would like to know if someone used the nickel-titanium leader wire before. It has a little bit of stretch in it that recovers immediately upon release. That should in my opinion be perfect to use with braid

Reviving a old tread, just for some feedback.

so I had some 40 lb wire which were just lying about.
being 500km from the ocean all was well...

got me some 50lb wire too.

made some traces with them...all seemed good.
they are a knottable wire, which is great and some stretch.
testing it seemed to be fine.

so took the boat down on easter weekend and had the traces on the boat. must say, they did get wet.

on the 3rd day I noticed that a trace was broken "snapped into two" the trace was rolled up and was about 500mm long.

this was strange because how could it just snap in half.
I left it there.

with the cuda classic comp I again had some preparation done.
the traces were used/ not all but all got wet.
the traces were rinsed off with fresh water.

finally I got to clean all tackle and finalize all my fishing equipment for the upcoming interclub comp.

again I found that one of the traces were just broken/ seemingly just snapped into two.

why this is, is unknown.
and for the cost of it, R 285 for 4,5 meters it is a total waist of money if they just snap for no reason.

is it a manufacturing defect?
can they not tolerate salt water?

my no 6, 7 and 8 wire "tooth proof", the normal steel wire were also amongst the titanium wire.
and they were all still good to go.

so guys, rather stay clear of this product, rather use the old tried and tested.

+1 Never had good luck with it. Used one roll to perfect the knot. Wasted!!! Next roll used some and after being broken numerous times with fish the rest have got a happy place at the bottom of my tackle box.
Will find a application for it some time.
AFW toothproof still the best in my oppinion.
