Owned and run by Greg Holwill, argueably one of the most knowledgeable ex-Durban, and PortEdward, Ski-Boat Fisherman.

I don't know if there is a more reasonable resort than this, and not too far!

http://www.nhambavalelodge.co.za/

Suits the whole family because it's on the Lake, safe for Kids, while dad goes for the big ones!

No I haven't been there.

Greg Holwill is in Durbs for a few days and I'll try and get to have a beer with him and find out the latest news and I'll ask him about Demares (try for an honest answer!).

Chidenguele area is so full up with fish, it would take a thousand fisherman a thousand fishing days to make an impact. As long as you only take what your mobile freezer can carry home! hehe.

And if you don't release what you can't manage, they'll force feed you them. I promise you'll learn to respect catch quotas after that. :(

Also, the road depends on the recent weather.

If its been raining and you got a Tazz..might be a prob, but they'll haul you out with the Landy!

MJ ........... i trust your comments were made in jest, i visit chidenguele often and its scary to see what the spearos and ski boat guys take home, no marine resource is sustainable at that rate !

the fishing is good there because there has been little pressure on the resources for the past 30 years. mozambique is becoming like henties bay in namibia, guys are travelling there, catching as much as they can to re-sell back home to "cover expenses" and thus ensuring a "free holiday". whats the fishing like in henties now compared with 15 years ago ?

Thanks for the point Skollie...and i agree, no area is sustainable if exploited...For the fortunate few that do get a chance to get up to Mozambique, let us become the conservationists, and at least keep 1 place in the world where we can take our kids in 20 years time and let them enjoy the same pleasure we do, when hauling in a monster....Greed is human nature and its something that is innate....Most fisherman live by the addage - "Make hay while the sun shines", if all fisherman live by this, there are gonna be really dark days ahead, for our progeny...And the suns not gona shine.... Lets stop the exploitation of our resources, if we all just release that 1 fish a trip, we will make all the difference.... No offence meant to any1, i'm just trying to get a message across...^^..

Tight Lines and better catches

Come to think of it, I couldn't agree with you more, Skollie.

MJ I was saddened to see that photo with fish lieing everywhere - tails sticking up in the air all over the place... Then we wonder why bag limits and restrictions are put in place! c'mon bru...

Been to Chidenguele for the last two years. What an amazing place. Stayed at Demares Resort www.demaresresort.co.za and had a blast. You can't compare Nhambavala with Demares. Demares is more up market that Nhambavale and you are right on the beach for easy access. Got about 10 gps way point of very productive spots that whe fished in the last two years.Ill post them if anybody are interested.
