finding a carps fishing spot

Hello everybody.

In two weeks my wife and i are comming to south Afrika. Finely.
we had our honnymoon 4 year ago an fell in love whit your beatifull country.

We are looking for a spot to fish carp.

The only thing we can find are organised places where we have to stay for a week.

Does somebody know a non - commercial dam or river where we can fish for carp ?

We are traveling for one month on the eastern and western cape provinces, along the garden route.
we have a tent and angling equipment , and e rental car.

Hope someone can help us.

Thank you!

Hi Bob

In the western cape there are a few places and you don't need to stay over night, you can fish for the day and then leave again.

Places include: Zeekoevlei, Rondevlei, Little princess vlei, Langevlei, and Rutters. these are based around the southern suburbs in cape town. I am sure the other guys would be able to direct you for places in the northern suburbs of C.T. :welcomesea:

Thank you verry much, that is most helpfull.
Wat is the average size of the carp in these lakes?

Any idea's on the east of Capetown / karoo area? Can anyone tell me something about the theewaterkloof dam and the Brandvlei dam?
Do these waters have big carp (15kg+) in them?

Regards, Bob

Don't bother with Theewaterskloof or Brandvlei dam. The carp fishing is pretty poor. You will be better off staying at one of the beautiful campsites along the Breede River all the way from Worcester to Swellendam. It's a beautiful area, with some stunning campsites & the fishing is pretty good too. PM me if you'd like some further details of campsites/towns along that route.
