Hi guys,

I tested 50 lb 0.34mm Suffix briad this morning and was not happy.
I tied a bimini in .55 mono as well as in the suffix braid 50lb and joined the two using cats paw.
I tested using a digital 24kg Rapala scale and the braid broke 3 times between 8 and 10kg right where the braid enters into the spirals of the bimini.
I then did a relaxed bimini in the braid with 8 turns as well as 14 turns and still no improvement.
I then tested the braid straight with no knot and still colud not get better than 10.5kgs before snapping.

Please add your experiences with suffix braid

I think Hooked landed his 2 massive Bronzies with Sufix 50lb braid...

I been fishing with it for 2 years now... no monsters landed, but no problems like that...

Sorry reefie was KF 45lbs.Did use the suffix for my whippings though.Sardinella , you are sitting exactly where i was a while ago.PR KNOT.Just get out there and learn it.There are some okes who can tie a bimini and others who cant.Im in the loosing category so the PR is my choice.Hasnt let me down yet.

Ah can't believe this... I'm mortified...

Sardinella, you just made my worst nightmare come true... I had to test this for myself... took my newest roll of 45lb Sufix Pro braid out... tested it with no knots... just straight up. Tested the breaking strain 30 (Yes THIRTY times)... It never got above 10.9kg. Broke between 5.6 and 10.9 kg EVERY time....:cry1 Thats less than HALF the claimed breaking strain...

We've been HAD. This is an absolute SWIZZ - I'm gonna take this further. Most of my reels have this braid on!

Hooked, I have no doubt that this is what you experienced with your BRAID too.

Do us a favour, Luca... test your Kingfisher Braid and and the Suffix stuff you've got left...

METHOD... Tie a straight Spider Hitch loop on either end, hook it up to a Digital scale and let us know....

As soon as I've got some time I'm gonna test the Whiplash Pro too. Maybe Nepptune can test the Power Pro braid for us too... Lets get to the bottom of this...

I have just tested Kingfisher Super braid 20.4kg / 0.26mm by tying a PR knot onto .55 nylon. The braid snapped at 9kg.
I then proceeded to test the braid striaght and results achieved varied between 7.5 kg and 11.2kg.
Method: Placed a round pine broom handle (25mm dia) in vice and wrapped braid about 25 timed around the wood. Wound the other end onto a empty multiplier - about 30 turns - done to simulate fishing conditions - hooked the scale onto the reel and supported the weight of the reel by hand whilst pulling. Most of the snaps occured away from the two connection point.

Eagerly awaiting results for other brands - needs to get my reels filled - I am off to Mapelane 4-13 Marc.. WE WE

These are some pretty nasty results guys. I just went with Nepps and got Powerpro but havent really been using it long enough to offer opinions but I think the main recommendations were go for that or the Stren I think. It certainly looks as if they were sage words .

Shhhoooowwweee okes.... I dunno hey.... I personally have never done any actual strength tests on my braid... but it has served me well...
I've heard a few bad stories over the last couple months of bad batches of pretty much every type of braid out there and people having problems with all of it at some point which sucks... even Power Pro... Sorry Ajay... hopefully you got a good bacth, as the stuff I have I have never had any issues with...

I've got 65lb Suffix on my Stella 6000, but haven't really fished it enough to give an opinion on it... pretty pissed to hear that its perfroming badly in tests though...

It seem to me the only lines I haven't heard some bad press about, apart from the crazy expensive Japanese lines ( and these have their issues too ) is Tuff Line XP.... it seems that the jiggers and poppers, the guys who really put this stuff to the test, but can't or won't afford the Japanese stuff, are having great results with it...

I love my Power Pro, and have yet to have any trouble with it... But I would like to see a test done on it...

Luca - See what sorta price you can get the Tuff Line XP for.... or Jerry Brown Hollow Braid.... I know that is what alot of the longe range tuna boys are using, and being able to splice it cause its hollow makes for even more seamless connections than the PR... worth a look...

Ok Just took a roll of brand spanking new Sufix pro 80lb braid and ran the same tests on it... Broke every time below 20kg - less than half it's claimed breaking strain.

I did the same tests on 45lb Kingfisher braid - confirms Sardinella's results - cannot get it to break above 10kg!! This confirms what I have suspected for a while now... the ESA guys were not wrong...

As a matter of interest, I did the same tests on Berkley Fireline - 10 lb broke at 8-12lbs. 12LB Fireline broke at 8-14lbs. At least thats approaching the claimed breaking strain...

This guys... is NOT on. We need to take some action here. If the results on the Sufix and KF Braid can be confirmed ... I'm gonna do all I can to make sure they don't sell another roll... lieing bastids!

Ajay... is this the Tuff line or the Power pro? Yep I'd like to see the results too.

Flip man, thinking about this... what bloomin' use is the braid if it has half the breaking strain of your topshot mono!?! ? Ai makes me the moer-in.

Reefer--Ja if the results appear to be consistent then it might be that were getting dumped with the dodgy stuff this end of the world. Wont be the first time B Grade or seconds are dumped on emerging market countries shelves.

this is one of those cases where you need to tread very carefully as most braids are exactly the same and come from a few factories around the world.if u phone suffix tommorow they will run u up your own brand for cheaper than their own!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I asked , I know

just my 2 bobs worth.... i used tuff line for a couple of years with no probs, was heading away on a trip and wanted my gear to be in tip-top condition so reloaded my reels, with whiplash (highly recommended by "nameless" retailer in durbs) first big johnnie, all the top shot out and about 100m into the braid ...snapped on the reel! was telling my local retailer (whilst purchasing new tuff line) about the problem; he said the problem was quite common, and he has found that if you wind whiplash onto a reel through your thumb and index finger you can quite often feel thin spots in the line.i've been back on the tuff line now for a while and will not touch anything else.
cheers.

Interesting stuff guys..i am glad your'll decided to try this and not take something for its face value...

Just to add some sort off verification to this testing would your'll pls also try the same test with the same breaking strength mono...just as a sort off control testing sample..either same breaking strain leader or mono should suffice...

Thanks in advance..
