YUP, Wayne hit the nail on the head.....it is truly beautiful on the West Coast.....we have a beach house in Britannia Bay (by dirt road - 6Km from Paternoster) and at least once a month we have to go down there. Place for the soul.

great for the family as well, with some of the best restaurants in the country right there.....the Noisy Oyster in Paternoster being one of our favourites - an eclectic little place (owned by the previous owners of the Brass Bell) and I assure you that it will be difficult for anyone to beat their mussels!!!!

As for the fishing? Well, I am a newbie to the West Coast but hope to learn a lot from Wayne and some of the other West Coast SeaLine locals. Roll on Kob and Elf season....some of my gear is already down there waiting.

Oh yes, and next month the flowers come up resulting in one of the most spectacular shows of colour to be seen anywhere!!!!

Something else that fascinates me, go into the local shops in Vredenberg, Saldhana, Langebaan etc. and everyone SMILES!!! I kid you not....unlike up here, they are helpful and genuinely smile......hugely refreshing when we become used to seeing sour faces so often in shops inland.

The West Coast ROCKS!!!!!

Can anyone tell me where a really good fishing spot is between Saldanha and Veldrif? I have been living on the westcoast for 8 years, but I was a new mom when I got here and now my son is old enough to go fishing with me! I still need to teach my husband the ropes, but he does ok. I would like to go out for a day of nice fishing and not be dissapointed in the end.

Can anyone help me with a nice location?
Does anyone know where the old train bridge is that they talk about? Seems to be nice fishing there.:::S:wfish

Adelle and guys,

Am also coming to live down there...last place left in the country that is tranquil and relatively safe as far as I am concerned, and also so beautiful. Bought my stand for R7500 on the day the first stands were ever sold in Elandsbay...public auction nogal! That was back in 1985 and it took me 4 years to pay off!

Adelle, having said that, you should try not to fish with your son where you are not within eyesight of others...now why do I feel sh*t having had to say that?

I do not do a lot of shore fishing, but have a boat and will need some help once down there!

Kind regards
