Hey all, anyone keen to do a little fishing after work sometime this week? I'm prett ymuch game for anything (except really heavy duty stuff like shark as I don't quite have the tackle for that atm). Not sure about some elf around the corner form Vic Bay because I think the swell might be a big big, but I'm new to the area so not quite sure... Cheers, Cuan

robyosh wrote: J A M .........0 NEED HIS PERMISSION FIRST SORRY Sure: 071 873 7279So it is a well known fact among my friends that I have had a bad spell when it comes to fishing lasting one year and three months...I must confess, it did end rather nicely with a 7.5kg kob caught on Pilly at klein voel klip... This weekend Robyosh and myself went fishing at Swartvlei for some shad/grunter/cob as we have heard rumors that this spot is going off. Rather desperate to break the dry spell, I packed up and off we went. On arrival the dropshot fellas were hitting garick on the left side of the lagoon by the dozen. 500g - 800g...good fun. As I was setting up my d/s rig, I noted movement in the water a good couple of fellas running around madly throwing rocks and hitting with sticks...and that's when the fun started. HOW TO CATCH A GRUNTER WITH YOUR BARE HANDS What you will need Two Windhoek draughts; one six foot, 108 kg fella by the name of J A M; one cast net and pations. How does it work 1. Drink the Windhoek to boost your stamina...you will need this. 2. Take your 6 foot, 108kg fella named J A M and spot a shallow bank adjasent to a drop off (grunters frequent these when feeding). 3. Now run after the grunter like an absolute fool and push it to the nearest sand bank whilst readying your cast net. Open your cast net and jump on the fish like yet another fool and hold on for dear life. 4. Take the grunter for a photie and enjoy the other windhoek whilst telling this story to your mate on the other side of the river. PS: I caught 2 of these grunters in the above mentioned fashion. One was a 52cm and the other a 63cm which I gave to a little girl. Attachment: Grunter by hand.JPG (Downloaded 10250 times) Last edited on Tue Dec 7th, 2010 04:38 am by J A M |

Hey Cuan. Welcome to George Boerie. Myself and Robyosh will be fishing this week after work. I think the swell coming through at current will be to big to go left at Vic, how ever about a week ago the guys were catching shad from the pier at Vic. Might be worth a look now that most of those fine Transvaal fellas have departed. If you are interested my friend, let either myself or Robyosh know and we can make a plan. We will also, God willing, be fishing this weekend...left of flat rock perhaps, try and target some cracker. You are most welcome to come along. Last edited on Tue Feb 9th, 2010 10:19 am by J A M |

hey Jam I was watching this on Friday, looked more like a football game checking the okes run after the fish. One Question if you don't mind. "On arrival the dropshot fellas were hitting garick on the left side of the lagoon by the dozen" Was the above by the mouth? Were they casting into the sea or Channel. Hope you can help.

Sweet! Well, I will head down to Vic Bay tomorrow. Just got a new surf rod today, so went down to Wildernis beach to have a couple thrown...it's been a WHILE with that type o reel...so that was interesting with all my crow's nests... But the swell looked pretty small, so I think left at Vic Bay (through tunnels) may be an option tomorrow as well. What is it like fishing at the point on the left of the bay? It looks to get very deep very quickly there, but I don't really see any way of landing anything big that side. Anyway, I will head down to the pier after work...I'll be the guy in boardshorts with long hair ![]() Just shout if you see me. Cheers, and thanks for the tips.
