Fishing with Nicola of caranx.net

I finally met Nicola yesterday. It was like to meet an old friend though it was the first time I met Nicola.
It was very plesant day to fish as we were very relaxed from start to finish.
Fortunately bluefin cooperated for the whole day.
We had four for six. Though we marked lots of tuna, we could land only one buefin on jigs. I even had a nice whiting on my jig.
If you like to jig dogfish, it is THE TIME and THE PLACE. :)

Willie fished bluefin in Cape Cod for 5 - 6 times for nothing and he finally could fight a nice bluefin for the first time in his life. :)
He was a happy man yesterday.

I had about 66" (170 -180 lb) tuna on Sevenseas Hooker jig. I used 500g Custom JM rod and JM PE5 filled with Varivas BigOne PE5. The fighting time was 11 minutes.  Later on I hooked up a decent blufin on Carpenter small BC-y 45-160 stickbait on Hots 77XXH rod and Acucrate SR20 filled with Varivas Avani PE6.  I was impressed with the performance of Hots 77XXH rod. It is one of the strongest rods Ive' used. Yet,  The tip of the Hots is stiiff, but for some reason, I could cast light 50g stickbait pretty far.

Mario from Spain finally hooked up a decent bluefin on his small Japanese lure.
While releasing the fish, the eye of the lure got opened. It becomes clear that through wire is a must for big bluefin in Cape Cod.

The trip with Nicola became my last trip to Cape Cod this year. It is not over yet, but I am done. I need time to work for my shop's website before I go to 12 day trip to Hurricane Bank out of San Diego just after Thanksgivings.

Wow, it's amazing how professionals just make things seem more... alive I guess. That is definitely a picture to frame and hang!

Kil,

Great report as usual.

I've allways followed Nicola photos, they are incredible, he has some of the most beautifull photos of fishing I've ever seen.

his blog : http://nicolazingarelli.blogspot.com/

Being both "virtual" friends for many years, you must be very proud with that photo.
I had seen Nicola with the Camera on the fish report and was waiting for his photos to come out, thanks.

Absolutely fantastic image Kil!!!

Like Fedu I have been a fan of Nicola's photo's, and his writing for a good couple years... in fact it was article on Vertcile jigging in SPortfishing a good few years back that introduced me to the sport!!!

Fantatsic and thanks for sharing Kil!
