Just to but a bit of a fox amongst the hens, I thought I'd post this photo of my mate Campy that made the front cover of an Italian fishing magazine.

Caught on the original jigging outfit (couta whipping spoon strikes again). Wonder what the Europeans made of that reel?

Congrats to your buddy, how hard can he pull with the scarbrough (spelling) reel?

I won't profess to being an expert (I do fish bottoms with a KP though), but keep in mind that for many decades this was all people used to catch big crackers, coppers etc. Still today in KZN you will find most boats use KP's to fish bottoms. The old records of sharks caught of the harbour pier was also with big Scarboroughs.

I think if you know what you are doing, they are formidable weapons! And talk about a low ratio.. 1:1 :)

Another example, good old fiberglass whipping stick, KP and modern 480g jig with a decent result.
