Unlawful Advertising / ordering / Promoting

Simen

Sealiner
There are currently threads running in the open forum where members, who are not registered Sealine advertisers or Sponsors, are promoting and advertising products and then getting orders placed for these tackle and equipment.

Guys I cannot let this continue as we ( Sealine ) have an obligation towards our paid up advertisers. We entered into a mutual agreement of trust the day advertising rights were accepted and paid for.

It is unfair to our advertisers who have put their trust in us, to allow them to promote their products by using the forum as an advertising aid, and then we allow members to act as dealers.

Posts that entail collecting orders from members will be deleted immediately.

Should there be exceptions to the rule permission would have to be obtained from ADMIN before doing so.

The current threads running will also be removed.

Should there be members wanting to promote/advertise products, contact ADMIN, and advertising space can be bought, and the same rules as to advertisers will apply.

ADMIN.

Hi Psy.
I've had it out with Admin on this topic before.
There are many good products out there and this is a great forum to consider their merits and de-merits.
Some guys have simply started to upset the balance of good and fair comment in favour of a buddy's or a pal's products.
There also recently have been non-advertising businesses that offered to take orders for products made available by commercial entities. These guys are scavenging for sales while there is a good system in place on Sealine to keep a reasonable balance for advertising businesses and products.

Fully agree. Only paying sponsors should be allowed to advertise.

That being said though, will we then also be prohibited to comment or discuss prices / pricing strategies? Thus implicitly sometimes criticizing some of the sponsors?

well it would appear so ,if the sponsors dont like whats been said they can pull the thread just like the thread on splitring pliers.

A thread will stay opened for any discussion as long as Sealine rules arn't transgressed.

The problem so far being is that the discussion gets off to a good start and then ends up in a mudslinging contest, or chirps by members who felt that by removing or locking a thread benefits others

Any product can and may be discussed as long as any person or dealer /distributer is not attacked personally.

Firstly there are no sponsors on the ADMIN team, so they have no input on the moving or locking of threads.

Secondly, I locked the thread ( split ring pliers) for the simple reason that orders were being placed on the open forum to a member who is not a registered dealer/sponsor advertiser.

The discussion on the pliers had nothing to do with it. You are most welcome to re-open the thread and re-discuss the pliers.

That would be me guys! I am the guilty one, guilty for buying on behalf of other anglers direct from factories. I appologise to all including Sealine admin as well as advertisers.

Andries, I realise that has upset you and I appologise for that. Fortunately you do not stock any of the items I got for the guys so hopefully it hasn't effected you.

Again, my appologies!
Bennie apologies accepted, it happened, it was overlooked, now stopped.

Hi Simen

Besides all the breaching of rules stuff is it not possible to delete the posts and let the thread run.

I dont know what happened to the SR pliers thread but probably one of the best threads I have seen on any forum with regard to SR's. Also a lot of time put in by guys expressing opinions, posting pictures etc.

Agree it may have  started  to go in the wrong direction .... but good info there...maybe just needs to be cleaned up a bit.

Many thanks..

I think it is wise to consider that Admin may be and are a bit more tolerant towards contributions by members who have a longstanding and contributory history with Sealine.
The shceisters with 5 or 10 posts that suddenly can take orders to supply the whole country while trying to by-pass Sealine protocol, that I believe is what this thread is about.

Just to clear this up.

No-one is allowed to advertize or punt a product on the Open forum. This includes Paid-up advertizers. If we allowed this, Sealine is going to become a flea-market.

Advertizers all have a dedicated thread in the Sponsors section, which they are allowed to update with Special Offers/newsletters/announcements/launches twice per month. Posting of prices and poaching of clients on the open forum is NOT ALLOWED.

We urge members to point potential buyers in the direction of our Sponsors Page - support our advertizers!

We'd also like to bring to everybody's attention that we cannot police every post on Sealine... some, even advertizers, will take a cheap shot and post a special that they are not allowed to - sometimes we miss these - but there are no "preferred advertizers" on Sealine, not are there any "double standards". If you see something you feel is wrong, please bring it to our attention.

Thanks to all! Especially our patient and loyal sponsors!

PS: Split ring pliers thread cleaned and re-opened as per requests by members.

Hi.
I have sent a private message and an e-mail to admin, but I have not received any reply. If anyone could tell me if I can procede, I would very pleased.

Me and my husband are often out fishing and we often have very nice catches of which we would like to post some reports and pics.

Unfortunately, in the past, we had the bad experience that people used pics of our catches for advertising themselves or promote their operation, which is quite annoying,
for this reason, since then we over-write our pics with our nick names as a kind of copyright, but i am not sure if then it would be possible to post these pics in your forum.

Please let me know.

Cheers
