Winter

Hi All

Sealine team just an idea. Seeing that all of us are getting ready for the cold winter ahead. And waiting for the good fish to come on the bite

Could we possibly donate a few blankets for the homeless & destitute towards winter warmth?

I see that there will be about 50 guys fishing on the 02/06/07 for the KZN Comp. I'm sure we can spare some cash, food clothing etc.

Hi Riymos

Not sure how many.

Can you get a price of the blankets then maybe we can work from there?

Do you know of any shelters in the KZN area?

Hey Ashen that seems like a brilliant idea, i dont mind sparing some cash for a worthy cause... Imagine if 50 guys jus club in with R20, we can raise R1000, and maybe we can get Sealine some free advertising on ECR!!!!::H

So come on guys, lets get a consensus whether u are willing to spare some cash for a worthy cause... Just remember the more u give the more u get in return, and maybe the gods will shine down on Winkels for the Comp^^..

Tightlines, but loose pockets Hopefully

[align=left]Hi Ashen

Try east coast radio winter warmers.
Blankets can be dropped off or collected .
maybe check out their website. If you listen to east coast radio
know they advise a lot for winter warmers. Will post more infro.

Hi Ashen, in Durban we have East Coast Radio (ECR) that runs the Winter Warmth Campaign, where u donate some money and they buy and distribute blankets to the needy, so all we need to do is round up the donations from the members and hand over the cash to ECR, and the deed is done!!!

Howzit I know of a couple of factories in Clairwood.I sugest we buy as sometimes we may get ore then just what ECR gets. Not to offend them its just that i feel we can at least try and get it cheaper therefore we can give much more.

I know i have no trouble Donating 50 bucks and in that we may get alot more.Think about it we pay for one chokka 60 to 70 bucks and its gone in 1 or 2 outings so if we donate 50 bucks and get at least two blankets each even maybe 3 we will be really doing alot.

What about getting some of the Cape Guy's to contribute as well or maybe start it in Cape Town as well, even maybe LGF and the fresh water guy GP guys, what about Reefman im sure he can handle GP as well...

Lets make this effort count guy's.

Hey guys, i have an idea, How about a Sealine Challenge with a difference, Durban vs Cape Town vs JHB, to see which province can raise the most cash for this worthy cause. Start a thread on each city, start a list of names with their pledges against their names, we'll have a cut off in about 2-3weeks and then we can decide which is the most giving/charitable city??? and then donate all the money together to the Winter Warmth Campaign, i'm sure we'll get a couple of thounsands of rands!!!What do u guys think???

That Sounds even better.

Im in for it but i will also see how much we can get the blankets for so we can see which is more feesable and benifits the needy more.

Hi guys

I think this is a fanstatic idea....lets do it thro Sealine and not ECR..there are many organisations...there are few in the Valley of Thousand Hills that look after Children with Aids...with the cold winter approaching I am sure those Hills will be very Cold.

Lets agree and start...this feels good guys.

Not to offend any 1

I’m up here in JHB but my contribution goes to KZN cos all of my fishing is done back home….

Not to sound nasty but up here in JHB there are plenty contributors towards homeless & destitute.

Jace can we not get the funds together and ask ECR to donate for Sealine. And still getting AIR TIME….  ::H

u can count me in aswell, i dont think theres enuff active guys from jhb to have a provincial comp, i like the idea if paying for it at registration for the comp at winkles.

Whatever u guys decide be it jhb vs ctp vs kzn , or pay at registration , i'm all for it , lets do our part for the less fortunate.

L-H

ps. do hobo's qualify for charity aswell , i'm in need of a new 14 foot rod and a reel *hint hint*

The reason i suggest ECR, is because of the possible air time and exposure Sealine can get from such a venture, imagine the name Sealine, being broadcast to well over a million listeners, in the name of poverty and destitution, it can only bide well for the progress of Sealine...More members means Sealines grows exponentially... What do u guys think... Also the job of distribution, can be a menacing one, we can always join ECR when they are distributing to give them a helping hand... Imagine all of us in our Sealine t-shirts, helping the destitute, what a brilliant sight....

This is a noble ambition. I'd certainly be willing to help with whatever we can from my side... In JHB, we've got so many refugees and streetkids already, for us, this is every day kinda stuff - and when the weather gets as cold as it did today, it's a heartless soul who won't help.
