I have a few spinning reels, this was a dedicated snoek reel.

Selling as i need a new outfit.

My Saragosa, Black Velvet and Loomis went swimming with some lucky fish. Still cant believe how the metal welding bent and snapped.

We fish on the pier and there are holes drilled in the concrete to fit a round bar in.

Rod stands are made up of metal (2inch pipe)welded to the round bar that sticks into the concrete to stay secure.

Was fishing for Stumpnose and Pompano with a sealice/cracker combo and the fish picked up the bait heller-fast.

Not sure if the drag got stuck or tangled, before anyone could get to the rod it bounced about 3 times and flatted out straight and rod and reel went into the water.

inspected what was left and saw the "mild steel" round bar bent almost 90 degrees then welding snapped.

I now went to purchase stainless steel and had a buddy double weld and secure it incase something like that happens with the reel.

I am now looking to purchase a new reel mainly "not sure" what multiplier to get with a R6k budget, Trinidad / Saltist - I am a beginner with multipliers?

If you're a beginnner, for rock and surf bait fishing, my opinion would be get a adrenaline xmaster pro 30 and clean the bearing grease out and replace with reelfast oil or something like that, and static mag it and you'll never look back in terms of a cheap bulletproof multiplier that casts and fishes well. Just grease up all stainless innards as its chinese stainless LOL..Dont fish too thin line either, 0.50-0.55 will land you most fish and cast lekker.

Wasn't aware I was obligated to stay with a grinder even though its my own money, will need to remember this in future

Who said what that made you feel this way ?

Multi's are awesome reels and so are grinders. I for one fish both, have a multi and grinder setup each with it's own use, so go for what you want.

also, if you are going to go multi, and something newer, if it does not have a mag kit in, look at fitting a mag kit, as the mag will improve your casting ability with the reel

Hi Fishermann,
Not sure where this is coming from, as I have read all the posts and none are offensive.
This is a sure way to kill your thread and any assistance requested.
Having both setups in your arsenal will definitely be an advantage. You may even consider a 2nd spool with 0.4mm mono for when you feel like sliding. :fbash
