Good day Sealiners.
I currently I am in the market for a new grinder. I have been looking at various models and so on... I have come to the conclusion of getting my paws on the New Shimano Saragosa 14000XG.

I will be using the reel with braided and some backing (have researched the capacity and all is in line for what I want).

The reel will be used for eds only and casting out smaller live baits and on occasion the dead bait The reel wont be used for spinning at all. Just wanted some advice as to anyone out there that owns the gosa 2020 14000XG.

Reviews, Pros, Cons, Any any information will be very highly appreciated..
Thanks fellow sealiners.
Thight line!

Morning!

The new Gosa is an excellent reel! Rated by the Godfather of spinning reels, Mr Alan Hawk as better than the current Stella. So don't take my word for it...

You probably already know this, having done your research, but just for a recap. The 8000, 10000 & 14000 are the same size and apart from the gear ratio and line capacity don't differ at all. The gear ratio of the 8k is 5.7, the 10k is 4.5 and the 14k is 6.3.

I own the 14k (and the previous model 10K) and have to say it helps a lot if you have to reel in those loooong casts ;) Its also convenient when you want to lift your sinker as quickly as possible to avoid structure. But also remember that if you get stuck into bigger non-edible fish you wont have so much cranking power.

Shimano also have great after sale service (not like certain brands), so you wont go wrong!

Thanks for the reply Blikkievis.

Indeed Alan Hawks review was really informative and I couldnt stop reading.
I really dont mind the loss of the cranking power at all. Not going to be targeting non eds at all. I'm sure I won't go wrong with it. But on the topic of structures, when winding over structures very fast does that damage the reel in any way?
I mean for instance you fishing in a very rocky area. If you had to crank very fast over ledges and rocks, to avoid getting stuck, will that cause any damage internally or externally? Considering the 14000XG is a very fast ratio reel.
Also when hooking up into those big Eds, do you think that the reel internally will take any sort of damage? Just asking for an opinion here.
Cause I've seen them over seas using these 14000XGs for popping, when they hook up the pressure they put on those monster GTs is just unbelievable.

The reason im asking about this specific model, the 14000XG a friend of mine had some gear issues with his after a few days of use and pulling a few fish, just wanted to know if anyone else has had any problems with this model.

Shimano I've found make some of the best gear setups in reels available, makes sense as they are more a gear company than a reel company.. But what I've found is the gears need a perfect alignment when putting back together? There is usually a marking to ensure they line up..I've never had the gears fail me on a shimano reel of any sort, including cheapies that actually fought and landed proper fish for years before they just died from abuse and salt..Just my experiences with shimanos. I've had gears in penn spinners fail me, never an issue with daiwa, finnor, ecooda, shimano or my avet..Bent spool shafts on daiwa spinners, but fish/spin with daiwa multiplier almost exclusively.. Mid range new reels like this you dont get many problems and if you so they must sort it out...Daiwa's customer service I've had issues with, penn also, shimano although you must go through the store and agent has been on the ball and finnor or its chinese parent company had after sales superb service.

This has all been my experience, not really my opinion, my opinion would be that I don't think you will have any issues with your saragosa's gears, and if you do I think shimano will sort you out so that you are satisfied.
