Braided Leader getting shorter with 3way swiwels

Hi

I'm using a JDB Camo braided leader on both my reels. It's rod length with 5 turns on the spool. My problem is that I have 3 piece rods.

So after each trip I need to pack the rods, taking it apart, but the 3-way swiwels can't go through the top eyes when taking off the reels.
So I have t remove them every time I pack up, that eating into my braided leader length.

Anyone has a solution or something you do to "safe"your leader?

thanks for any advice

Hi Scooter
I use the quick change clips (They look like a heavy duty paper clips). They fit through the eyes of my rods and work a dream.

Double overhand loop with the braided leader and just use the loop through and over the swivel each time you use..Strong knot in braid, you wont break it before the line most times..

Thanks Fin-S.

Will def. do the overhand as recommended by Dr HH and you.

thanks again

I search the knot that was recommended and goy this on google:

How strong is an overhand knot?
The overhand knot is not strong, so it is not used in situations where you might expect great force. It also reduces the strength of the rope or yarn by about 50%. But as an "anti-slip-knot" it does not have to withstand a lot.

As far as I know, surgeons loops and double overhand loop the same knot, do yourself a favour and try break it tied in braid..In mono I dont trust it but the use of in braid was shown to me by commercial yellowtail fisherman years ago to my disbelief, so we tied one of those on end of line and I tied my bimini, his double overhand beat mine 3x in a row and I never tied a bimini in braid since..

Thanks Dr HH.

One more question. ( On spinning)

I have the BlueFish Zero 13ft (2 -4oz) , will it be too heavy to also use for spinning from the beach (Strand). (lets say +- 3hours)

I have the Penn fierce 111 4000 and a daiwa bg4500 reel that I can use. Have some 30lb grinder braid on rolls to use, but need to buy spoons etc,

thank you for any advice

Yup..be too heavy..sorry to dissapoint bud. On knots in general, the way I tie might be different to yours or yours etc..so best way is to tie and test..test em against each other and soon enough you will have a less than handful that will work in most situations for you and be reliable for you which is what counts, simplicity and reliability.

Thank you Dr HH

Looks like I will bite the bulluet. I did some "sealine" research last night and have this list of rods that I want to pair with a penn fierce 111 4000 or maybe the bg4500

It needs to be a 3pce rod for travel. (estimated prices in brackets)

loomis archipelago STX HMG @ 10ft ( R 1 290)
Daiwa New Exceler Saltwater EXS 9.6FT HFS ( R 1 700)
Berkley Air 9" Super Heavy (R 1 200)
Penn Regiment 10ft NEW GOLD LABEL SERIES ( R 1 400)

Will have to go to the shop and see what feels nice in the hand.

Kind regards
