That Seacat is like .. BRAND NEW Condition!!! Busy with the Negotiation to buy. Feeling quite excited!! Maybe I would consider a Sodwana Cat at R200k? Is the price difference of R180k worth it in the long run? I think so ......

Willem I have researched and fished enough on different boats and can confirm that I have never or will ever own any other boat except my current Duck and or a Seacat - Kosi Cat or Z Craft KingCat! That is my opinion and Choice!!

So ... after looking for a boat and enquiring on advertised boats and viewed some boats and even making commitments on the purchase ........I have learned a couple of things and I am asking the following questions 1. Why can all sellers of advertised boats not act ethically .... Including serious-or so called big name Dealerships/ Manufacturers! 2. Why should someone advertise a boat as being immaculate and ready to go fish when the condition is not even close to being Sea Worthy? 3. Why would someone deliberately mislead a buyer with information on his boat ....... I am just asking. Eish ....

I am glad you realized how difficult is to find used boat in good condition . It can take you a year or longer to stump on a good buy not to mention on the honest seller -that is like 1 in a million . I paid lesson for not knowing some things with boats - and how most of local boats can be purely finished ( not sealed ) and how bad patch up job previous owner or owners did including dealerships that fitted outboards without proper sealing of bolts . Shoddy wiring , left comparing to right hatches not cut in same place on the deck , cracked gelcoat from screws expanding the fiberglass , skew hinges , hatches too small for larger guy if going insde (FC) , non practical shelves ,too many drink holders fitted like it’s a party boat. And I can go on and on. Now with all knowledge , all tools that I had to buy including all materials to fix and modify my boat properly . I can only suggest , finance new boat with new engines and go fish. And even so I would probably spend hours fixing brand new boat as I know it’s not sealed properly. When boat is not sealed, over time you will get foam waterlogged , transom rotten , deck rotten and so on. If you find a good looking used boat - do not hesitate to give asked price but on condition that you will only pay it after you drill many holes to inspect hull for water logging . If all dry like a bone - cash out . If you find wet foam - say good buy . Areas to be checked . Close to front seats where poles goes below deck , close to transom , under fish and fuel hatches . Drill in transom also for wood wetness if it’s older boat with wood. Also boat must be kept in garage if you want to last many years .

Thanks for that one D5. You have given me some more food for thought!! Will check. My biggest shock so far - Unethical behaviour and False advertising by sellers INCLUDING DEALERS!! (Very well known - supposedly reputable ones)

Yes bru, it's shocking. I guess we South Africans are used to terrible service and accept it. The high cost of litigation allows these con artists to continue their trade. They know they can and will get away with it. Also, our society in general has lost all morality and ethics. Gone are terms such as integrity, honour and honesty. All they are interested in is in moving stock off the floor. One of these days someone is going to lose their loved one and launch a landmark civil suit, then maybe they'll wake up. But I very much doubt it. We are a lawless nation. Sad really, I feel for you bud. Nowadays when I need to go fishing I split the cost with a friend that owns a boat in Durban and off I go. Good luck with your search though....

Actually there was a landmark civil suit where a boat builder from the eastern cape, no names mentioned as no need to once again stir up the can of worms, decided to sue boatfishing.co.za and miles its owner as well as forum members and they tried to get boatfishing to disclose its members identity....but the builder lost the attempt, with costs as far as I know, in high court, and that legally set precedent for application of the law with regards to social media in SA, where if you can back up what you say or are obviously knowledgeable, mature and fair from your prior posts, then your privacy is safe as well as your wallets from those wanting to sue you. Also you can hire the best lawyers and use that very expensive lawyer to tell the person suing you to bugger off and the other party will be left to pay the bill afterwards. ![]() Litigation is no longer a threat, if what you say is truthful and you are not a fool. But that does not mean you can openly slander and and..all within reason obviously. If dealerships have lied and people have tried to scam you..name and shame, it is your right to express yourself if you so wish to, and you are not infringing on the affected parties right if they need to be put in the open and the truth be told.. But again open slander that cannot be backed up, will probably empty your pocket and be a headache for Emps..

just came back from st lucia a week long trip. had great weather, and good water. did 4x launches at st lucia. best boat i have had so far, this one will be staying, that is for sure. 520 are like hens teeth. 565 is big and heavy. 510 is big enough and safe, but from the 520 size it ticks all the boxes
