Hey Guys, any specific fly pattern recommendations aside from the usual suspects for the Maldives; will be going in December?

Brush fly came out nice, think I have finally figured out the right proportions of materials. The Marc Petijean magic tool magnum is brilliant for Maribu dubbing and creating good shoulders for the fly. Also found out that steaming bent feathers makes them go back to their original shape.

I somehow missed this post... They're looking awesome bud. Dying to get the feedback on the catches (which, of course, you will give :))

8 hackle feathers seem to be optimum, the last 2 black flies were tied with 8.

Ya Limpopo, we will see how it goes... am going on a family trip, so I will fish as much as I can get away with.

superb looking box there Mark... Those brush flies are magnificent!

Maldives has a good Trigger population on some of the Atolls so make sure you got some Crabs...

Also worth taking some flies with zero flash/UV in them just in case the fish are like the Sudan fish that freak out at anything with UV or flash in them... like those SSHrimps...

Beautiful ties man..

Thanks Nepps, yeah I am going to start tying some crabs later today.

The magnum magic tool really makes a difference for spinning a marabou brush for the collar on the brush flies.

I will be super stoked if I get a trigger, that last shot I had at them in Djibouti the damn things were too clever, they were just nipping at the tail of the fly, but then they would try and smash a GT lure??

Howzit Chaps, the fly fishing was rather disappointing, did not see any bonefish, only saw 2 GT's and the Triggers were very jittery; only had one follow my fly.

Think I caught about 200 freaking small groupers and other bits and bobs. Not sure if it was the location or if it was the wrong season.

Next time will have to e far south or far north.
