 As this is a newly created Kurper thread...I thought I would post some pics from some of our catches...unfortunately I do not have everything on digital format and at hand.
We grew up fishing for kurpers in farm dams all around the lowveld and just about any body of water had them. Best baits were the good old trusty earthworm and then there is nothing that got a kurper as revved up as a small mepps spinner or countdown rapala on a nest!!! I remember landing a nice rooibors at Dagama Dam on a watermelon lizard intended for bass!

 Some lovely catch of Kurpers!! :-)
Can anyone please give me some guidance as to spots I can take my youngster to catch Kurper, I recently moved to Nelspruit and would love to expose them to Kurper.. I find it difficult targeting this species with dams that have Bass, in the good old days, I think the dams had more Kurpers the. Bass, but with the intro of these invasive and rapidly breeding specimen, they seem to be depleting the Kurpers.. anyone with suggestions as to any dam in the Lowveld that does not contain bass please let me know.

Hi there darraaz I wish I could help but I don't know what the fishing is like in the Nelspruit area seeing that I am from Pretoria.  You are certainly correct regarding the bass in our waters and the impact it has on our indigenous fish.  Blue kurpers biggest threat is the Nile Tilapia as it crossbreeds with our kurpers and also invasive fish like bass etc. where it shares the same waters.
