Zandvlei haarder

Anyone know a good spot where I could catch some haarder or springer in the vlei ? Without a net. And if anyone has had any luck with the leeries recently?

hi zandvlei is a safe place for fishing,the best place to target springers is inside the marina erea, they are lots of fun to catch on very light tackle.

Fish from the marina side for mullet, a few headlands are easy to get to and the mullet like to hang around the top of them, otherwise at the pedestrian bridge at the mouth just north of the road bridge. Safe inside the marina, but can be issues at the bridge, but never had a real issue there with dog or company around, I used to walk my dog daily there for years.

Be wys and preferably not alone on the western side but in the marina you are fine. Guys used to fish almost daily on Park island which was also safe, they were after large haarder and carp on deegies. Be prepared with some pepper spray or scary dog in public areas. Not sure if firearm is needed these days, it is down the road!?

Also what bait should I use? Went today and only the tiny mullet were interested in bread, the bigger ones were less than interested, and the ones that were biting were too small to be hooked. Anyone know where I could buy some livebait?
