Nice catch but the weight of that dori is a bit suspicious ive caught quite a few fish that length that have only been betweeb 8 and 11 kilos?

Never mind that last coment just looked at the photos properly and wow that is a lot bigger (I think) than what the length says and caught on a handline? WOW!

Whatever the actual length or weight you got a fine dorrie there, and very few can claim they have ever caught that size and that includes myself. Well done. Good Fish.

These Dorado's get big!

Thats a Trophy Dorrie for sure.

I am now in Luanda and would not mind getting stuck into one like that....

We have some massive ones around us here too, got one of 25kg on Saturday! Will post a pic later....
::hapmad 25kg Dorrie on hand line!!!! :woohoo:woohoo:wfish
i have managed them up to 30kg here on handline, pulling them on the handline is one thing but the worst part is once you got the fish in the boat, they go absolutely ballistic, a 20 odd kg Dorrie breakdancing in the boat os not something you wanna get too close to!!

Ahoy All,

Dorado75, you know them up North, they grow to 40 kilos and still make finest steaks and fry batter...

That's one awsome fish and forklength should be well at 130cm and larger. Bull Dorado that large have a more rounded and compact body. Even a meagre punter would level at 40kgs at least. That rig fishermen are a sturdy bunch, so dont be impressed if the angler lifts and holds it as if it were "trout".

I am impressed.

Gerhard, let's go get us some of those... and then put you onto your Marlin!

I also work offshore in Angola and have caught quite a few Dorados over 1.3m and they have def not been close to 40kg, much closer to 30kg, so i def think that those Ori tables are way out!!

Way out is an understatement !!

This dollie had a fork length of 107cm's and only weighed 16kgs - acording to the tables it should be 34kgs ??? (maby the tables are in pounds)

IMO the one in Foxhat's pic is bigger.

Yeah, there are some busses out here that i have seen while diving.... i have hooked a few that i recon were over 30kg, but the way they jump and carry on they frequently throw the hook! I have a pic of a 40kg Dorrie that was caught here, i must just try to find it!

Jan,

Ja lets get stuck into those Dorries.

I need some fish for the house.

I have a 30lbs rod and TLD 15 that needs a bit of a work out.

Then we can later stress about Marlin .. lol

Just an update to all.

I have an All Species Calculator and it indicates maximum lenght Dollie is 211.2 cms and equates to 50kgs. 130cm equates to 14.2.

I can mail to those interested just pm me your email address.

Remains great fish however.

Well done guys.

Figured out how to place the file here. Open for anyone to use.
