Voelvlei dam

OK so I went to Voelvlei anyways.
It was two beautiful days but unfortunately no fish. I fished monster bay. The carp were spawning all over the place. The rest of the dam there was plenty of places to get snagged on since the dam is fuller now.
There was also an open angling competition for biggest fish caught from Saturday 10:00 - Sunday 10:00.
I know that one lady caught a monster of a barbel, not sure who won in the end though. If anyone knows, please do share.

Jammer vir die laat antwoord. Ek is juis nou hier vir drie dae. Die vroutjie om te kontak is Karin Muller. Haar plaas se naam is Silwerfontein. Jy kan op hulle website gaan kyk. Hulle het n chalet wat jy kan huur of jy kan kamp of in die bus bly in die woud. Jy het n varswater hengel lisensie nodig en jy kry n permit by haar. Ek dink hulle laat dagbesoekers ook toe. Gosh, how things change over the several decades.
I remember in the old days when Voelvlei was pristine, no barbel and carp but only small mouth bass and trout.
It fell under the Cape Piscatorial Society when AC Harrison was secretary.
It was productive for both these species and most were caught on flies although spinning was allowed.
