This is getting to me

About a month ago I mentioned the word gatvol and I got a PM from an Administrator to remind me to watch my language, it seems like some rules are just there for certain members:

As per ADMIN's topic:  http://sealine.co.za/view_topic.php?id=16576&forum_id=17&page=1  there are some rules here:

The following behaviour will no longer be tolerated:

  • Offensive nicknames - A senior member by the name of BLIKSEM

  • Offensive Avatars, including scantily clad women. (This is a FISHING website!) [/*]
  • Personal attacks of any nature, especially against Admin. members.  - http://sealine.co.za/view_topic.php?id=32638&forum_id=1&jump_to=446331#p446331

  • Threats of physical violence against another member. [/*]
Blatantly aggressive or provocative posts

Swearing or foul language in ANY form. - Just search the simple word "KAK" and you get 580 hits
As I said, seems like some rules are only for certain members

I don't think anyone can argue on this one.

Most of us are guilty in one way or another.

Mousedog.... I could write you a loooonggg reply as to how much work we put into Sealine, how much it costs us in our personal lives and our finances, and how we also have an everyday Job to keep down and how we don't get to read every post and how we also have lives to live, and how we try our level best to run Sealine in the best possible way, and how we have to put up with abusive posts, threats etc on a daily basis ....blah blah blah....  but I won't.
All I'll say is... please don't let our HORRIFIC double standards spoil your experience, just don't let it get to you fella.

Ps: forward me the copy of the PM that was sent to you by an "administrator" who called you out about the use of the word 'gatvol'.... I'd love to see it!!

Oh and one last thing... if you don't like the way things are run on Sealine... please just stop whining and move along.

I haven't wet a line in about 3.5 months now, and you know what, it's getting to me... so do us a favour and GIVE US A BREAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well,

It seems that we never will be able to please everyone !

Admin is not the GESTAPO ! We are ADULTS and we use our discretion on moderating. If we had to apply ALL the rules hard and fast, Sealine would be rather boring !

Agreed, and Pms will be sent out ! The topic is valid, and we will aloow members to voice their opinions, within reason !

The word K@K  is used generally, and we monitor the context of the use ! Cmon surely you hear worse everyday ???

Offensive Jokes -

WRT that particular one, we saw a MUSLIM member take it in the manner it was intended, Surely HE should have been more offended than you !

Explixit Jokes - We are monitoring them, and offensive ones are removed, however we do miss some of them !

Contrary to Belief, we do have day jobs as well !

Here's what you do: Pour two tots of your favorite beverage in a glass with ice (no mix). Search "leeuloop" on you-tube, turn up the volume, sit back and enjoy the ride.

No offence,Buddy,but we've got so much to be thankful for on Sealine,all free of charge,nogal.Plus Sealine's got standards to maintain as besides locally, there's plenty overseas viewers watching as well,and we'd like to maintain Sealine's image at all times.

I haven't exactly been around much of late,but do know that Admin are always very flexible and fair.Plus they don't receive ample acknowledgement for all the hours put in at no benefit financially.Still,you never hear them complain.

But you got to understand there will always be misperceptions wherever you go,and perhaps this is one such occasion.So,no offence as stated,but I'm positive that you're not the only one to be addressed wrt rules,which are so minimal for what's on  offer on Sealine itself.
