Struisbaai R&S fishing trip, any tips?

I haven't been to Struisbaai in ages and was wondering if any of the locals on the forum would mind giving me a few pointers. I have seen some posts on Struisbaai spots, etc., but they're relatively old, and I wanted to know if anything has changed.

I know it's not the best time of the year, but I'm looking forward nonetheless. I only hear good things about fishing in Struisbaai.

Any pointers on spots, tackle, bait, and potential eddies would be great.

Happy fishing, en stywe lyne!:ifishin

from what i've heard, there has been some good steenbras and belman on the plaat recently. Not sure what's happening from the rocks, but there's always plenty gallies and das to be caught

Great stuff, I've heard it's a good spot for gallies, so I'm excited to try for a bite. Always fun going for steenbras, and I've already planned on trying the troughs I see along the way.

Is there perhaps a map of Struisbaai which shows where the spots are?

Going this weekend and I haven’t been there since I was a lietjie so no idea where any spots are.

I’ve heard of Die las, Plaat and Stomp but can’t seem to find any maps or diagrams 😅

How was your trip @Rhyn155 ?
We ended up having no luck other than a small Steenbras. It was a fun trip, but the weather and condition of the water didn't play in our favor. I don't have a map of the spots at Struisbaai; however, if you do some digging, there is another thread where Struisbaai was discussed, which does have some maps posted. We went to the Plaat, but ended up moving away from the shore (Plaat) to the rocks around Marine Dr., directly after the building development, and the turn off into Van der Stel St. If you check on Google Maps, you should see a little turn off where you can park and walk to a big rock slab stretching into the ocean. There's a beautiful gulley that runs right next to the slab on top of which we and a few other locals were posted for the remainder of the day. (Also, this was where we caught the Struisie) Bring lighter sinkers and be ready for some rock fishing.
We ended up heading to Yzerfotnein the following week and caught a few nice Yellowtails, wish we had the same luck while we were at Struisbaai! Beautiful fishing spots. Stywe lyne! I wish you all the best.
