Following the Club’s Management Committee meeting on Wednesday, 27 January 2010 I am pleased to post the following decisions taken at the meeting:
1. Logistical arrangements: Competition 13 Feb 2010
1.1. Fishing area confirmed as being Langebaan/Saldanha/Jacobsbaai
1.2. Competition Secretary: Extremist
1.3. Start and end times of competition:
Start: Score cards issued between 05:45 – 06:00
End: Score cards handed in between 16:00 – 16:30 (No grace after 16:30 and any late submissions will be disqualified).
NOTE: Members who do not make the morning starting time (06:00) will have grace until 07:00 to collect their Score Cards from the Competition Secretary, wherever he might be. Late-comers can contact him on his Cell (0834005170) to establish his whereabouts and to collect their Score cards BEFORE 07:00 from him. Please note that he WILL NOT issue Score cards to members who do not meet the final cut-off time of 07:00. Any members who do not meet this grace period shall be disqualified from the competition. They may, however, participate in the day’s fishing on a non-competitive basis and attend the weigh-in event, thus earning 15 points for attending the weigh-in event.
1.4. Venue collection of Score Cards / Weigh-in: Engen Garage (West Coast 1 Stop) West Coast Road.
1.5. After party: To be finalised at members meeting (Wednesday, 3 Feb 2010).
2. General
2.1. Positions of Score Keeper and Disciplinary Officer: Confirmed as members of the Club’s Executive Committee as per approved Constitution. (Clause 8.1)
2.2. Appointment of interim Vice-Chairman in place of previous incumbent, Sailfish who recently resigned from this position: Management Committee decided that Secretary will act as Acting Chairman in the absence of the Chairman, as per the approved Constitution. (Clause 10.5) New Vice Chairman to be elected at Annual General Meeting as per the conditions of the Constitution (Chapter 8).
2.3. Additional events/socials/clinics: Referred to the members meeting (3 Feb. 2010) for further discussions. Events suggested include Casting clinics and Bait presentation. Also suggested that some of these events/clinics be open to outsiders. This would improve members’ expertise as well as create positive publicity for Club.
2.4. ‘Cleaning beaches’ project proposed by Marthin: Referred to members meeting in absence of Marthin.
2.5. Five Species Competition, Struisbaai, 27 Feb. 2010:
At least one SSEC:WC team to compete. Members to indicate availability. As members would be representing the Club, it will be required that they at least wear a Sealine shirt and hat. The Club will sponsor R80,00 per team member towards the purchase of a shirt, for those who do not own a shirt yet. In the event of more than the required number of members to make up a team (5 per team) responding positively to compete, the team members shall be selected based on their current standings on the Club Rankings (as at Monday, 9 Feb 2010). Unfortunately time does not allow for later cut-off date for selection. The Club can also not sponsor more than one team, although other members are welcome to enter for the competition.
2.6. Pearly Beach competition, 20 March 2010: Fishing area. Referred to members meeting for finalisation. The following fishing area has been suggested by one of our members who knows the area fairly well:
“Franskraal se begin(waar Kleinbaai eindig) tot en met Pearly Beach. Sodoende cater jy vir die ouens wat nie 4x4's het nie.
Franskraal het so 3 km kus strook wat net klippe is soos Struisbaai wat baie lekker hengel, dan het jy die Uilkraal plaat wat met die voet geloop kan word,
dan het jy die Gruis(net 4x4 en dapper 4x2 manne ongelukkig),
Dan Pearly Beach self na Uilkraal se kant toe moet jy ongelukkig loop, as jy so 2 baaie omgestap het begin jy die gate kry.
By Pearly Beach self kan jy voor die bungalows hengel en dan ook Castle Beach wat baie soos die plaat is wat jy kan stop. Daar is ook 'n paar ander klipgate wat jy net voor moet rondkyk.
Prawn & bloedwurm kry jy by Uilkraal. Die galjoenseisoen sal dan al oop wees so die manne staan almal 'n goeie kans met die vis want daar is baie van hulle.
Die gevoel is dat die area nie groter gemaak moet word nie want dan gaan die deelnemers te veel moet ry en net die 4x4 ouens gaan voordeel trek. Anderkant Pearly Beach is dit net 4x4 wereld of jy moet stap. Geen alternatief nie.â€
2.7. Future competition dates and venues: Referred to members meeting (3 Feb. 2010) for discussion.
2.8. Future Management/General members meetings: Members meetings to be scheduled for Wednesday evening, week and half prior to monthly Club competition. Management to meet earlier (say one hour) on same evening.
2.9. Review of competition awards- Cultural/religious sensitivities: It was decided that the Club will do away with practice of awarding prizes of an alcohol nature.
2.10. Review Species list: List amended to clearly identify Sight fish and Bait fish. Following decisions taken regarding points system:
2.10.1. A minimum length of 30 cm shall be applied for the Club’s internal competitions to Bay fish with no official minimum size, namely Hake, Kingklip, Snoek (Southern Pompano), Springer and Yellowtail. Such fish shall no longer be treated as Sight fish and fish meeting or exceeding the minimum length of 30 cm shall earn 1 point per cm as is the case with all other Bay fish on the Club’s Species List.
2.10.2. Bait fish and Sight fish have now been clearly listed on the Species list. Scoring to be as follows: Sight fish listed on the Species List to score 2 points as is currently the case. Bait fish still score no points.
2.10.3. Any fish not listed on the Club’s Species List shall not qualify for points during the Club’s internal competitions.
2.10.4. The Species List to be reviewed and amended in future as circumstances dictate.
2.10.5. These changes will be taken up in the existing Club’s Constitution, Rules and Species List document on the Announcements thread.
An agenda for Wednesday, 3 February 2010’s Members meeting at the Hunt and Polo Club, Durbanville will be posted within the next day or so. Members that wish to place items for discussion on the Agenda should pm me before Wednesday.

@Galjoen, jammer ek 'hi-jack' so bietjie jou thread hier. Ek probeer egter maksimum exposure met ons Klub se lede kry sodat so veel as moontlik hierdie post sien.
