Spool size on Stella

Hi all
Hoping someone can help me with this one
I have a new Stella 5000 and want to buy a spare spool
Am considering the 6000 spool as I see the reels are the same and just the spool size is different.
Has anyone tried this?
Anything I might need to know before going ahead with getting the 6000 spool?

I would go to Basil Manning, and just make sure the 6000 will fit the 5000. Sure they will assist. Take your 5000 with. The 5000 should be the XG and the 6000 is either the HG or PG if I am not mistaken. The oscilating and vertical spool travel you will have to look at. Hope you come right.

I have the 5000xg the new swb series
I tried the 6000hg spool and it fits perfectly
My concern was line weight
Is the roller going to work on line meant for rated braids for the 5000 and 6000 size spools
Also will gear ratio change any?

Ja sorry, I didn't read your question thoroughly. If I were you, I'd drop Alan Hawke a mail. He's very approachable and very helpful and I doubt you'd get a more qualified opinion anywhere. Mail him on his website http://www.alanhawk.com/contact.html

Please report back on your findings. Thx

Ok so I popped Alana Hawks a message last night and this morning I got a reply, was very impressed

He says the spool will fit and there won't be any issues

That is a good result. Please tell us more on the cost of the extra 6000 spool. Will be good to know.

as to the Question on the line roller bearings etc..... all the models I have serviced in the 5000-14000 sizes have the same bearings (x2) in the line roller assembly

is the actual line roller on these models the same though?
my concern was regarding the slot which the line goes through and if a thicker braid might not go through as well

Yugen, the line rollers are the same and wont pose a problem. For what it is worth the 6k spools are pretty expensive and you could possibly buy a complete reel such as maybe a Sustain 6000 for a few bucks more than the 6000 spool. I know it is nifty to sometimes have a spare spool at hand, but it is also nice to have a second outfit altogether.
