Been looking to get a multiplier for a heavier setup for throwing spoons/plugs etc for tail. Not sure where to start.

I throw from 1oz to 4oz using Tranx 400 filled with 50lb HMP; from 3oz I use an additional braid casting leader.
Toying with the idea of just filling it with 75lb hollow HMP
Rod is a 10' Oval DC I made up by cutting a 12'6" one from the butt.I have set it up like a big bass baitcasting rod, or US style plugging rod for that matter, ie reel is at about 55cm from the butt cap.
I prefer this reel and rod over a fixed spool set up (although I do have them)
I would think a 9'6" to 10' rod rated 1-4oz would work the Composite Developments Graphcast 3 and 4 were popular, would be good.

I concur with TH above... I went over to the dark side with bait casters a few years back and it's my preferred spinning technique now. I have the full Tranx range... 200/300/400 and a magged 500 (magged by TH).
The smaller Tranxs' are used on a series of different Major Craft baitcaster rods and the big 500 is on a Temple Reef BD100 popping rod... Aiming at Tuna, geets and Mackerel. The BD100 was built and set up for the Tranx by TH himself.

Aaaaahhhh...throwing lures with a multiplier..NOW..thats proper spinning ..as its a spinning reel ..ie the spool spins ...Sooo..I throw spoons specifically for kob and have been doing it for at least the last 20 odd years...
The HOLY GRAIL set up...As to the reel ..you want a multiplier that is TOUGH..can take a swim AND has at least a 6:1 retrieve ratio...
My choice is the Daiwa SL30...I put a slightly smaller handel on and also replaced my drag washers with leather ...the leather handles the wet much better...
As to a level winder..well thats personal choice...
Another good reel is the Torium 20 a tad heavier BUT also very solid indeed...
I still use nylon as I throw mainly over bricks and braid dont like nicks and knocks...
NOW the rod...this is something Im still on a search for ...my present one is a Stimulator 1035H , thats 10,35f and its a little combat boot of a rod...its short enough to muscle the fish amongst the bricks and has a lovely sensitive tip to feel all the spoons movements...
I throw from half 0z to MAX 2oz spoons ...

Multi's all the way...
I gotta mag my avet 2 speed leverdrag and breakout the rhinostick that my mates got for plugging, graphcast5, the bluefins are coming one day in the not too distant future...
Other than that my baby is a grandwave 40 with .55, or also spin with a saltwater baitcaster or an xmaster pro 10 for light stuff with 0.4..Once you go to the dark side and get used to it there is no going back..

kenty if you get hold of a g3 BM blank that you can chop to 10ft and is about 2-4ounce tip, it makes a beautiful stick, but my best stick/blank I've found is a BM superslim grinder blank 50% composite, 3-4 oz and the last 2 of the 3 pieces to make the rod..but good luck finding a blank, if you find two keep me one!!! a 2-3oz prob be perfect for the cob, I pull the crap out of harder fighting fish with the 3-4oz..blank has lovely parabolic actionand soft tip and sensitive enough and super light..and strong. I rate it nicer to cast than anything I've casted, my mate with rods on same blank concurs and he has fished them all..

YEARS ago..around 2008 ...Western Accesso Fishing Tackle..(WAFT) did an 11 footer single called iron feather...the look..the specs and the 1 to 5 oz tip was that got me all excited...i got one to test in 2009 and was duelly dissappointed...while it was great to cast and had a fairly sensitive tip..it weighed a ton in the hands...sadly..
