Marlin Ski Boat Club at Port Edward have replaced their annual Easter Couta Classic with a catch and release species comp this year. The comp will be held from 25th to 27th April and the first prize is once again a ski boat, as has been the case in previous years with the couta classic.
This is a groundbreaking event, with the focus on catch and release and should be a lot of fun. The species format makes it more technical and exciting! Details can be seen on the Marlin Ski Boat Club web page; www.marlinskiboatclub.co.za
Personally I think this comp is a great format as skills will be tested across the board. It takes more planning and scheming to get points in a species comp, than simply hunting the biggest fish. The comp is not that big either, so the chances of winning the boat are actually remarkably good. I invite any keen ski boat anglers to check it out and contact the numbers on the web page to enter.
