shallow water on vaal river R54

Hi guys, I'm new here and would like to know if anyone has more information regarding the water deepness on the vaal river on the road between villiers and vaal marina.. exact location is +-20 km on the R54 from villiers side driving towards vaal marina.did anyone fish these areas, is it boatable ?... Please if anyone has info or can help with suggestions I would really appreciate it.

Sounds like the vicinity of Aqua Via resort. Personally I havent seen boats there, and when not raining heavy, the river is not very wide, 100 - 150 meters or so. In terms of depth, I cant say I've gauged the depth, but the one time I did take a swim, 10m from the bank was around 2m deep.

there is a old river bed running through with deep water, the other surrounding water is not really boatable, have fishing kollege plaas numerous times and never saw a boat anywhere close to there.

hit the website on top and see for yourself. Also remember the dam is currently on only 79%

Hi there.. thanks for the replies guys..

Ok i was there over the weekend but boy was the weather against me. I wasn't there to fish though, i went to have a look at the water and try to find out just how shallow it is.

Ok now i know exactly where it is and sorry for the mistake it's not river like i was told... it's actually part of the vaal dam.directions is easy.. If driving towards villiers it's plus minus 20 km before the n3 on the R54. If driving towards villiers there is a sign saying grootvlei. This place is to the right. It's called porcupine bay.... If there is anyone whose been there or know of someone that's fished there let me know... i know there is experienced fisherman who fish the vaal that knows where I'm talking about.... but hope they read this to reply.
