Saltist 50 (silver) versus Saltist 50 BG (black)

Hi gents. What are the reel (real) differences between them? I actually own a saltist 30BG and I'm not entirely sure what the upgrade is?

In other words - I plan to buy a Saltist 50BG this weekend strickly for sliding applications. My current Saltist 50H (with carbontex washers) will then get used for the rocks with some 0.5mm instead of 0.55mm (already looks ugly enough, needs a powdercoat though). Will I need to fit carbontex washers to the BG or are the washers already pimped off the factory floor?

Thanks flippy. Must say that my current Saltist 30BG is probably the best reel I ever owned. I very rarely get an overwind even though I wack the bait into the distance and its very strong for such small reel. I find myself using it everywhere, all the time. So I presume the 50 will just be bigger and better.

The magbrake on a Daiwa Saltist BG, sitting pretty and comfortable in it's recess inside the frame.

This was the larger 35/40/50 size with plenty of space to adjust tbe reel spinning rate.

The BG 30 H and it's narrowspooled brother, the BG 20 H, are lovely reels and with stainless steel mainshaft and factory supplied/fitted, carbon dragwashers and a strong handle and large enough comfy grip, they pack a solid punch for their size.

On the casting size, I see them on my bench for fitting magbrakes i.s.o. the factory centrifugals, but not nearly as many of the 20/30 size, as of the BG 35/40/50 size one's !

Yes, way more of the larger ones are sold and in particular, the 40/50 sizes, but the centrifugal system is essentially the same on a little 20 than on the 35/40/50 sizes and where it provides enough control for most casters on the small diameter, lightweight spools of the 20/30's, way more guys need additional help on the heavier/larger diameter spools of the 35/40/50 models.

Solid and easy to work on and very effectively and affordably magged when so chosen - lovely reels !

Enjoy !

This was a little BG 30 with it's own magplate, showing different proportions, with the plate curing in the recess and still awaiting it's magnet(s) to be put in place.

hi

it comes with a carbon drag, all carbon drags come from the same factory, carbontex is a brand name not a product, shimano trinidad DC / trini 30 A and the new and old pens come with carbon drags, all sourced from the same supplier.
