So I quickly pop into Bilimoria for some small hooks and sinkers to catch lifebait with.....and walk out with the 50BG. Needless to say wifey was not very happy:headb No I need to fill it up with braid and topshot. What is your recommendations!?

Thanks Francois. One question. How much Berkley Whiplash? I am generally going to fish from rocky outcrops, so I need topshot in the range of 0.55-0.6. Or will 0.50 topshot be sufficient? 40lbs Whiplash or stronger? What about HMP braid or bully braid or spiderwire? Eesh so many options:?

as said, many different options. it depends on what your budget allows?

whiplash is more expensive but you can spool more on. if you dont need to get max on to your spool go for a cheaper alternative. chat to enigma for the braid...

.50 - .55 should be fine!

Get yourself HMP or jerry brown! HMP is VERY thin and strong jerry brown is very strong. But go for 50lb braid or else you will loose braid and not top-shot when you are stuck.

You should get about 500m - 0.48lb/0.50lb - 0.26mm braid and 200m - 0.55m mono on your BG50 (Leave 10m for leader)

I am not familair with Jerry Brown nor HMP but Berkley whiplash is very expensive.

If your wife complained about your reel DON'T tell her the price of braid.

I have Bully braid and Gatobraid on my 30A's. I got them at a great price.

Gatobraid -0.21mm - 48lb 600m - I paid R600.

Shop around!!!

Okay Guys so I advised Katot to get a 600m spool of HMP braid and he did that, he put 500m of the 4-strand HMP 50lb braid and then about 240m+- 0.55mm topshot. Now he's sorted and ready for this weekends mission.

Well I have been using T-Line 0.55 for some time when I fish for crackers, it is a flippen strong line. So I filled up with that.

That stuff is flippen strong hey, used to use it when I had my Saltist 50h. By the way I just spooled an extra 400m braid ontop of my 540m on my Tor 50 which now gives me 940m of 50lb braid. Gonna fill her up with some 0.59 Alfa Seagrand so about 1200m of line ::S.

By the way that 0.55mm T-line(titanium) actually measures 0.57 and not the stated 0.55mm on the label thats why it's so flippen strong.

I just have one problem now and that is that I don't have any braid backing for my Tor 30. Gonna have to save R500 for some HMP 50lb backing braid or 48lb Bully braid.
