I think of rods as expendable....don't worry about it not being all new looking, use it, abuse it until it breaks then replace it....I know this sounds a little bit offish, but Ibuild most of my own tackle and usually don't get all freaked out about a scratch....if in fact it is a painted blank....(black I'm guessing)  and the scratches are small, try a "paint pen" or permanent magic marker.

Hi there Ulquiorra

Few options

Easiest is to litely sand the blank then spray with some clear lacquer spray. Dries quickly an does the trick but you would have to respray periodically as it tends to peel after a year or so.

Alternately clear varnish or Kraftex pratiglo epoxy.  Sand the rod then coat the rod using a piece of cloth or foam.  Takes a  while to dry so you need to leave it undestrurbed until dry. The pratiglo is a high build epoxy (i use it to coat guides) so you need to just rub it on the rod covering it with a very thin layer.

Hope this helps

Hi.
The tacle shops sells a Rod varnish. Rather use this. If your rod is properly sanded it will not peel of. If you want a realy good looking end product spray it on with a air brush or have it done. Do not use clear laquer in a can. This stuff peels of and you will sit with a rod with a serious case of dandruf.
