Repair graphite butt section

Hello peeps,

I went fishing this morning, and whilst looking for a stumpie, I hooked a monster sandy. Anyway, after about 40 minutes of fighting, my butt section fractured (from the point where the mid section fits in, for about 10cm on the front and back).

Is there anyway to repair this? The rod was a Kingfisher Posiedon Coastline 13'6.

Pretty annoyed tbh, bought the rod for scratching large edibles, so didn't expect the world, but this fracture seems like a flaw in the design.

Cheers,

Hi,

See attached image. It has an identical fracture o the other side. I thought of maybe using epoxy and an additional material. Not sure how strong that bond would be though.

I guess I could ask Kingfisher if they sell the sections individually.

Cheers thanks for the recomendations. I'll try an epoxy based option. If I holds tight after another long battle, will let you all know.

The same happened to one of my Black Hole Nanos... It was on an offshore trip and I got smashed by a rather large Tuna, which I managed to land ... Anyway so the skipper and I cut off about 70mm of the EVA (it was a butt join popping rod) and we bound it with sail stitching twine... I fished it hard for the rest of the trip without further incident. When I returned, I took it to Enigma (Craig Neil at CDS in Centurion) and he removed our repair and then bound it again with carbon fiber and replaced the fore grip EVA.
